Anyone not on milk yet (that isn't breastfeeding)

We have tried to introduce twice, and both times, LO got a weird rash around his penis area.  Not really on his penis, but around it.  Like a diaper rash almost.  It can't be a coinsidence.  He has never had this before.  I read about allergies and I don't think that is it, that is the only symptom.  And I don't think it is intolerance, he does OK with yougart and cheese.

Anyone else not onto milk yet (or heard of this weird issue?  We go to the dr Fri for checkup, so we are asking then)

  • Maybe try rice milk.  When my youngest sister was first given whole milk she pooped constantly and would get severe blistery rashes... so my parents gave her rice milk.

  • Agree with PP, I'd try rice milk, soy milk, almond milk, etc.  My DD has some borderline high calcium levels, so we've stayed away from much dairy.  We give her all of the above (rice, soy, almond milks) on kind of a rotating basis and she likes most of them.
  • LO is still on formula.  He's on a lactose free formula and we tried to introduce Lactaid milk, which pedi said is the same thing as the formula, minus the vitamins.  He was super crabby and quit STTN the whole time we gave it to him.  We stopped and he went back to normal.  We tried again, same issues.

Medically, there is apparently no reason this should be happening, but it is.  I've been adding almond milk to his bottles for about a week and he's fine with that it would seem.

  • we are still on formula - well kinda. she has been drinking a couple sips and took half a bottle last night. she will drink one sip of regular milk out of her sippy and then throw it down. but she will drink it again when she is thirsty.
