May 2011 Moms

jeans were tight before this started... I'm screwed!

So to give you a frame of reference I'm only 4'11 and usually around 130 lbs (slightly overweight, but I'll say curvy :) ).  Well this summer I've graduated after 7 long years in college... which equals class party, graduation luncheon, dinner with various family members, studying for my licensing exam, vacation with our niece and nephew.  Working out and eating right just kinda slipped away, bringing me up to 135 lbs (making jeans snug).

Well now with this "baby bloat"  I'm up to 139!  Thats almost 10 lbs up from my jeans fitting perfectly!  So, needless to say I am already using the hair-tie trick, but the problem is that they are too tight in the thighs.  I don't know how much longer I can wear any of my jeans (all size 6!)

I'm hoping that as this first tri progresses I'll get some of my energy back and get motivated to work out.  Maybe I can safely take some inches off my thighs while my belly continues to gro?  Or Should I just give up and buy maternity jeans now!!!

  • I am right there with ya.  I gained with my frist pregnancy and even after the loss (in May/June).  Between already feeling uncomfortable pre-pregnancy, and needing clothes to transition from summer to fall -- I'm feeling pretty gross.

But -- congrats on your graduation and your pregnancy.  We've got good things going for us (and I'm particularly gearing up for post partum Weight Watchers  -- you get more points than usual!! LOL.)

  • I would probably go ahead and buy a bella band or two.  Nice for days when the jeans are just too tight!

  • I am already wearing the be band or doing the hair tie depending on which jeans I am wearing. DH and I went on almost two week long vacation in the first part of August and eating out most of the time caused me to gain five pounds, which made my jeans super snug before the horrendous bloat hit.

  • I know the feeling! The baby bloat is killer! I would go ahead and buy the Bella/be band and maybe even some clearance maternity clothes! But, I hate to say it, you're not in the least bit overweight wearing a size 6! I would kill to be a size 12 or 14 even!
  • Wear Spanx under your jeans! Seriously.

I'm in the same place...just gained almost 10lbs over the last two months between our extended honeymoon and it being over 120 degrees outside (I start sweating just thinking about hitting the gym). Then BFP and this week, I look about 4 months pregnant. I wear the same combo to work every day...a pencil skirt and blouse tucked in...it SHOWS. So I'm Spanxing it and hoping the bloat dies in the next week or so.

  • Why not buy a pair (or two) of size 8 jeans?  You'd probably get use out of them post-pregnancy as well while you are losing the baby weight.

  • GOOD FRIGGIN IDEA!! I dont know why I didnt think of this!! WoohoO!

    Thanks!

  • My work pants that normally juuuust fit are a little stuffed with the bloat issues.  I went with the bella band type thing and broke it out today.  Felt SOOOO much better!! Ahhh....

Thanks, but because of my short stature i'm well over a healthy weight (123 lbs is the end of my healthy weight range!).  But I'm realistic, and don't stress over it too much.  Just wondering what the doc is going to say at my appointment wednesday (first one!) when i've already gained 4 additional pounds!!!

Yes of course!!! Super sucks tho because 2 months ago I gave away all my jeans that don't fit ( i was pushin 30 pairs!!)  and I gave my 8's away!!!  Should I ask for them back??? just kidding!!!  I might snag a pair or two!
