Tricycle/Helmet ?

I am getting Elena the Dora tricycle for her birthday next month.  I didn't even think about getting her a helmet until my mom brought it up.  Do you think a helmet is necessary for a tricycle?

    I was thinking about getting Lil a tricycle for her birthday as well.  I really didn't think about a helmet until Amazon so nicely suggested it might be something I would like to purchase with the tricycle.  Something clicked and now I feel it is a must.  Also, I feel like we should get her used to wearing a helmet early on.

    That's what I was thinking-  I should get it just so she is used to wearing a helmet now.  What tricycle are you looking at?

    do you have to go to a bike store to find a helmet for kids under 3?  I've looked before for Katie (she has a push trike that we push her around the back yard on) and we want to get her a helmet so we can take her out on our bikes in a bike seat or trailer but I can't find a helmet at a regular store (Target, Meijer, etc) that is for kids under 3...

    I just started looking and have really only looked at Radio Flyers (because I got an email from Amazon saying they were on sale...they know me so well.)

    Cincinnati Children's used to sell helmets but after a quick search on their website, I don't think they do anymore.  They do have a "Wear a Helmet" campaign so I went ahead and called them to find out if they have any recommendations.  I'll let you all know what I find out.
