Babies on the Brain

Follow up to weaning drama.

We saw the other pedi this morning.

He could not be less concerned about Jude's weight.

He also said that when breastfed babies take a dip on the chart like that it can be an indication that they are ready for some solids.

He said the only real reason people say to do cereal is because, "that's just what we do" and that "that's a crappy reason to do anything".

So he's suggesting that we stay on the boob, skip cereal and start introducing fruits and veggies.

I am so relived. And feel totally validated in my struggle with the original recommendations.

Moral of the story: It really IS okay to trust your gut.

  • Yay!

I am so glad you listened to your instincts and did what you felt was right for you and Jude.  Have fun with the solids!  They're fun going in but not so fun coming out.

  • Oh good, I'm so glad.  Sometimes you need instances like those to remember that Moms often DO know best.

  • So happy that it worked out this way for you and baby Jude!!  Breastfeeding is the hardest thing I have ever had to do.  I truly miss it.  I'm so happy that you got to see a supportive pedi.

  • Thanks, y'all.

Now I'm kind of pissed at pedi # 1.

I was super stressed about my perfectly healthy baby.

Hi JLee, I know I am late to this but I just saw this link on Money Matters on the Nest and thought this might help you out:

It's the new WHO growth guidelines for infants. HTH!!
