We still have not decided on a name for our little one. We just keep going back and forth on what we like. We basically like a lot of different combinations of the same few names. What do you like best?
I guess you could pretty much tell which name I picked...Joseph. ;-) I like the name, but I also LOVE when the names of children have great meaning to the parents. I love that the name incorporates both sides of your families.
I picked SS b/c I really like Thayne Collins - but not sure if it would be too many sylablles adding your last name.
I like family names. I was named after my great-grandmother, and I think it's really neat!
ETA: Is your Dad's middle name his mom's maiden name or sometihng? I noticed you said you had both grandmothers side on the first name, so maybe Collins would represent her, as well? (or did you mean to say grandfathers?)
Thayne rhymes with Pain, lol. That's how it's pronounced.
DH's Grandma was his favorite person in the whole world and that was her last name (maiden name that she went by so it's not his mom's maiden name). She passed away when he was in College. I love it for a middle name for that purpose, but think it's too out there for me on a first name. We like very traditional names. DD is Abigail Rose.
My Grandmother was Josephine which is why I like Joseph. She died when I was 18 months old but everyone in my family says she was a saint.
I am partial to Joseph because it is my own son's name, and I really like Thayne, especially since I now know the meaning behind it I dont' think it would be too bizarre a first name at all. I think it would be an awesome way to commemorate your DH's grandmother.
Thanks everyone! Those are the things we keep going back and forth on too. We love Samuel, but think Sammy or Sam would sound kind of funny ... same with Joey and who knows if he would always go by his full name.
I think this is just going to end up being a game time decision. :-)
Re: Name Opinions?
How do you pronounce Thayne?

As partial as I am to Samuel, if he goes by Sam, his first and last name would be a little awkward to say together.
I really like Joseph Thayne. Very strong name.
I think Thayne Collins is an awesome name.
For the sake of the poll I voted Joseph Thayne.

Another vote for Joseph Thayne. My baby (ok, big boy now) is a Joseph.
We don't call him Joe or Joey, but I can't say that he won't ever be called either of those.
