  Oh and yes, I know we can do back up with condoms and we have but c'mon..it just really, really isn't fun for anyone now, is it?

  I feel the same way.  Had an excellent experience on the pill pre babies, but now I don't trust it.  My cousin got pregnant with number two when she was on the mini pill.

  Thank you!  Seems like everyone knows someone who got pg on the mini pill!!

  I totally trust the regular pill but this mini-nonsense has got to stop.  My dr said I can go back to the regular pill once I'm down to 4 nursing sessions a day...  that seems so far away.  I'm serious about that vasectomy!!

  I am one of those people that got pregnant on the mini pill....I went the IUD route after LO was born. I never did well on the pill due to hormones (hence going on the mini pill which didn't exactly work as it should for me) and just went the no hormone route with the paragaurd.

  I got pregnant with Ben while on the mini-pill. My regular bcp was giving me horrible migraines, hence the mini-pill. I was on it for a year and a half before it failed, but it did fail. I pretty sure it had something to do with a time zone screw up while traveling during the holidays. Tell CF that it's time to get snipped.

  Oh no Jess you're scaring me. I wouldn't trust it either. I think that's why I'm hesitant about getting the IUD because I know one to many people that know someone who got pregnant on it.
  

  I don't trust it either and only used it for a few weeks.  Ditto about condoms, I don't know what the fail % of condoms is but we got J out of that percent!  I have ethical problems with the IUD so it's just FAM and condoms for us even though I know better than most what can come of that!

  I opted not to in case of catastrophic events... I don't regret that, but like I said this sucks. 

  Julie, fwiw while I HATED my iud for other reasons I totally trust it for preventing pregnancy.  I feel the same with the regular pill. 
  The whole nursing/bc thing is quite the conundrum!!!

  This just reminded me. When I got pregnant on the mini-pill, my ob/gyn reprimanded the NP who prescribed it for me because I wasn't a nursing mom. MY ob/gyn said "This pill is for nursing moms who have additional hormones in their system. I'm shocked you didn't get pregnant a year ago on this pill!" I remember that my understanding at that point in time was that with your nursing hormones and the mini-pill hormones, it's practically the same levels as a normal pill. It's when you're not nursing that your hormone levels are so much lower and you really run the risk of pregnancy. Hope that makes you feel a little bit better.

  My gym said the same thing. I went in a few weeks ago and she said that now that I'm only nursing nights and weekends, I should really be on a regular pill. If you're supplementing at all (with cow's milk or formula), it's not very effective.

  My OB doesn't either - she wouldn't prescribe it for me. She said to wait until I wean and go on the regular pill (actually she recommended IUD, but I didn't want to). DH is looking into (well, actually I'm looking into) vasectomy as well.
