suggestions for fussy sleeper

My 8 week old is absolutely wonderful. She's a happy girl who hardly ever cries and is such a mush I just cannot get enough. However, we are having a small sleeping problem. LO does not like to be on her back or be still. She gets her best sleep in her swing or sleeping in someone's arms. We tried putting the swing in our bedroom but the noise keeps DH awake. Which means when LO sleeps at night it is either she and I on the couch with her on my chest or she and I in our spare room downstairs with her in the swing and me on the futon. There has to be another way. I was thinking of getting the Rock and Play by Fischer Price. Can anyone who has it tell me about it? Does it make a lot of noise when it is on rock mode? I have spent so much money on trying to find something that she will be happy sleeping in that I really want to do my research before I run out and buy another $50 thing that won't work.

  • I don't have a rock n play, but from what I understand it has no 'rock mode', if you want it to rock LO, you have to push it yourself. Not sure if that will affect your decision on whether to buy or not.

  • I have the Rock and Play Sleep and we LOVE it!!! There is no machine to it so the rocking part is done manually by you. But the key is that it keeps LO propped up so they don't have gas problems.

We had tried everything..like you, putting the swing in our room, gas drops, gripe water, feeding upright..you name it...

We were having the same issues as you with our LO and he is 6 weeks old. We got the Rock and Play Sleeper about 2 weeks ago and our LO went from sleeping a couple hours each night and waking up fussing, to sleeping from 10:30 to 3:30 and then down again by 4 until around 8!!!!! It has been our lifesaver!!! VERY MUCH WORTH THE $50...but check amazon..we got ours there and it was cheaper!

  • We have the RnP and love it. There isn't a rock mode...no motor. It's manual so you have to make it rock yourself and completely quiet.

  • we have the rock and play too. its the best thing ever!!! What we do is put DD in her swing and let her fall asleep and get into a pretty deep sleep in there. Its in the living room so when DH and I go to bed we get her out of the swing and shes usually soo asleep shes like a limp noodle LOL and we put her in the rock and play if she starts to wake up we gently rock her and shes out like a light LOL. No joke the day we got this she started STTN. She now sleeps from about 9pm to 6am (sometimes later) and she will be 8 weeks tomorrow. Weve had it for about 3 weeks. The best thing about it is that its elevated so it helps with her reflux. She also loves to be swaddled when she sleeps and before we got this we were just elevating her in her bassinet and she would wiggle her way down somehow and the blanket would end up around her face. the RNP keeps her snug in one spot but still keeps her elevated. I'm not looking forward to the day we have to move her to the crib and stop swaddling her LOL.
  • Hi Kaidee,

I posted above how we have  the RnP too and love it.

I have a question for you, our LO is 6 weeks old. He goes to bed about 10:30 wakes up around 3-3:30 to eat and then goes back down until about 8. When did your LO bypass that midnight feeding? (I start back to work in 3 weeks and am hoping by then he is totally sleeping through the night. Oh and he is about 12 pounds...so gaining weight too!)

    Thanks!!
