2nd Trimester

I told DS a bit too early

I've been talking to DS for awhile now about how he'll be a big brother, and have a little brother or little sister. It really didn't sink in - kind of an abstract concept for a 2-year-old, I guess.

Yesterday, we were talking about how someday we'll have a new baby, and he can help change the baby, cuddle with the baby, make the baby laugh, etc. And I add in "Do you know where the baby is? Baby is in momma's tummy." He said "Nooo!!!" and started to cry!

I feel so bad. I guess I shared a bit too much!

  • The other day dd had her head on my tummy (she likes to "talk" to the new baby) and the baby started kicking. You can't really feel from the outside yet but I said, "Oh Gwen did you feel that?! The baby is kicking." DD looked at me, crossed her eyebrows down and said, "no no baby!".
LOL she totally thought the baby was being naughty or something. Ahhhh the thought process of 2 year olds lol
  • Awww, how sweet and sad! :( Poor toddlers LOL!

My dd is about t be 23 months. Ive been telling her theres a baby in mommys tummy. SO she tells me theres one in hers, and goes on to tell me " 2 babies mama!" She'll lift my shirt up and lift hers up and just smile and smile. :) Its the cutest thing!

  • My son is 4 and just looks at me like I'm crazy when I say there's a baby in my tummy. Maybe when my belly is bigger he'll believe me. HAHAHA

Things to avoid during pregnancy: Eye contact with cats. Cats will suck the burgeoning life right out of you, using their infamous feline mind-powers. Avert your eyes, and move along.

FACT: 1 in 10 people are said to be a carrier of Listeria. Therefore you should avoid all shopping malls, grocery stores and busy street corners for the duration of your pregnancy. Or microwave anyone you contact until steaming, just to be safe.
  • I've been telling DD there's a baby in Mommy's tummy. We were at Walmart on Saturday and out of nowhere, in an aisle full of strangers, she lifts her own shirt up, points to her belly, and yells "Baby!!!" It was adorable, but I had to remind her that there's only a baby in Mommy's tummy. Toddlers are so adorable (most of the time).

  • my 6 year old asked me how the baby grows, and I told him that I feed the baby with what I eat, and he has a giant "straw" attatched to his belly button where all the good food goes.  He looked like he was about to throw up.   Woops.

    :(  hahaha....

  • Awe - poor lil' guy!   My DS apparently is not intimidated by cannibalism, as he points to my belly whenever DH asks where the baby is.  He's 2, so I am curious how much he 'gets'.

  • I got a baby book for my daugter whe the question cam up "How did the baby get in you tummy?" Its great! It explains alot and she loves being read to and is now reading it from memory to me. I just wish she would not think the doctor "Is taking the baby out" each dosctors appointment.

  • My six year old thought the same thing when I was pregnant with my three year old, now that we are expecting again the older ones just keep asking when will the baby get here.  It makes the pregnancy a lot longer.
