I totally thought this was an OWT, but I had *horrible* heartburn and sure enough, my two kiddos were born with full heads of hair! GL with getting the heartburn to simmer down!

It is actually not an OWT. They have done research and have found that the hormone that results in lots of hair can actually trigger heartburn. I had heartburn like crazy with DS#1 and he had a head full of hair at birth.

I too thought this was just an OWT, probably because I didn't have any with my son (however, he was also bald for like 13 months) and I just forgot about it.....BUT- this time around, I have been dying. Our u/s tech actually pointed out a ton of fuzz on baby A in an u/s when he was in profile--so I am now a firm believer.

What are you doing/taking to help ease it? When I was in the hospital on br they gave be Pepcid which helped, but now that I'm home I don't take it.

i didn't have a lick of heartburn my first pregnancy and grace had a bunch of hair.

this time, IDK. i'd like to blame it on being pregnant but i should be honest and say it's poor choices of food

I had *awful* heartburn. And then at a late u/s, the tech showed me hair on one of the boy's heads, floating in the amniotic fluid. And I *still* gave birth to bald babies! Heh.

I was dying during my pregnancy. I was miserable if I didn't take Prevacid. Both my girls had hair, but Tessa just had a heck of a lot more. I guess she took it all and didn't give much to Avery!

i too had awful heartburn during pregnancy. marlo was born with a full head f hair, theo was pretty much bald.

All three of mine had full heads of hair when they were born. I don't remember having horrible heart burn with any of them.

Yeah, this was my situation. Luke is bald, Cal has hair. I had terrible heartburn.

I had horrible hb with my DD and she had a full head of hair. These two better have just as much hair because the hb is WAY worse!!

I have horrible heartburn, too. At our last growth u/s, we were shown hair on their heads, so maybe they will come out with it.

You know, funny you posted this today. I totally thought it was an OWT, until I watched an episode of "I didn't know if was pregnant" on TLC. It actually mentioned that mothers with a high amount of estrogen will have heartburn and that's also what's responsible for the babies hair, or something like that. I found it quite interesting.

DH had horrible heart burn with our DD and she had tons of hair. I never had it once.

He also had it bad when I was pregnant with the boys but not like he did with our DD. They had some hair.

I never had heart burn with them either.

I think its funny that he got that side affect of my pregnancy.

LOL! I don't believe it's an old wive's tale, since I had it really bad with DS. This time around I had it earlier and worse. I told DH that based on my heartburn, these girls are going to look like monkeys when they are born! lol
