Seizure?

Let's add one more loop to the roller-coaster, shall we?

As mentioned in previous posts, Terbutaline makes you super weak and shaky with tremors. It also causes headaches and blurry vision and a few other fun things. I was making my way to the bathroom when I collapsed and started to convulse. I was aware the whole time, but had no control over my body so I just let it do its thing, figuring that the most recent dose of Terb had hit me pretty hard...but then I started to gag on foam. Thank the Lord that I have some experience in nursing and knew to pull myself over so that I wouldn't choke and sure enough, as soon as I got to my left side, the shaking stopped and the vomiting took over. Once I was done throwing up, I felt much better.

Yes, it was probably a seizure but it didn't come as a huge surprise. I've done enough research about Trebutaline to know that this drug really messes with pregnant women and it is very controversial. A sign of an overdose or complications are seizures so we knew to watch for that...although, I've been taking the correct amount and the correct intervals but you never know, things happen. I'm bumping from the bath, giving my muscles a chance to relax. Nolan is moving around so he seems to be unscathed (what a trooper!). We are going to wait it out for a bit and if anything strange happens again, we will head back to the hospital but for now, we are laying low.

There's the update of the hour. Oddly enough, I'm feeling a little better at the moment. And don't worry - we aren't being reckless by staying home. We've got a family full of nurses that live within blocks and heaven forbid it happen again, they will be right here to help until we get into the hospital.

Re: Seizure?

  • Goodness woman! You certainly know how to keep things interesting! Did your dr warn about seizures specifically? Do you think you should call just to tell them it happened and see what they want you to do?

  • Wow what an ordeal you've had to go through!! You could write a book after all of this!!

Glad to hear your hanging in there and Nolan is waiting a little longer.

  • That's scary! My T&P's are still with you! I'm in nursing school right now, so reading the fact that you're having these side effects turns my heart. Hang in there! Nolan is lucky to have a mom like you!
  • yeeaah, if you think you had a seizure you should probably go to the hospital or at least call your doctor...

No kidding! I just kept thinking, "Okay, this will be the last bit of drama for a while..." and then BAM, something happens.

We will probably call DR in an hour or so just to give an update. We are trying to avoid calling at all because if we can see him in the office in the morning as opposed to spending another night in the hospital, we would really prefer that, but to be on the safe side, we will call to make him aware...and then beg to stay home.

  • Yes please call or go to a health care provider.. A seizure is nothing to take lightly...

That would make me feel better! And you know...this is about how I feel! Big Smile

  • you are an amazing woman! I can't believe all of the things you and Nolan have had to go through. Go to the hospital if you are having seizures please, I'm a nurse and we can only do so much to help. You may need medical attention if it gets more severe.
