Babies: 3 - 6 Months

Can we talk about drooling?

How much does/ did your 3 month old drool?  DD seems to drool A LOT, more so at night.  She mouths her hands/ fingers too, but it seems more like exploration.  I don't think this is necessarily the beginning of teething, but are any of you out there also experiencing this?

  • We did, then it slowed down for a few weeks and now it's starting back up again.

Ever since he knew he had fingers/hands, they have been in his mouth constantly (well, when he isn't jabbering away that is).

  • Mine is constantly slobbering, and I am in turn covered in slobber myself, since he likes to give mama "kisses" (or try to suck hickies on my face....I dont know what this kid is doing)

  • DD is a crazy drooler.  Her shirt is always damp or I have to keep a bib on her all the time.  She puts everything in her mouth and chews the crap out of it.  My first DD did this when she about to cut teeth but she was a few months older.

  • DS is a drool machine...he's pretty much always soaking wet. No teeth in sight though...I think we're just lucky. =)

  • They have no teeth in there to hold all that saliva in.  We go through a ton a bibs and shirts daily.

  • DS drools A LOT! We're constantly wiping drool off his face. He always either has his hands in his mouth or is sucking his lower lip. He will also stick anything into his mouth including burp cloths, blankets, clothes, etc.

  • Yep.  I swear she's gonna dehydrate herself!  ha!  My LO doesn't drool in her sleep though.  But she sucks on her hands all day long and sometimes in her sleep too.  She's begun to pick things up and they go straight to her mouth.
  • DD tuns 3 months this Thursday and she's drewling all the time. Like you, I think it's just exploration.  did feel a tooth starting to come to surface but definately not at the point where it's threatening to come through yet.

Exactly this! He chews on everything, and I'm always covered in drool. My shirts end up just as wet as his are. I can see tiny tooth nubs under his gums, but I don't think they'll be ready to come through for another few weeks yet.

  • LO's drooling has really picked up during the past 2 weeks.  We're going through about 2 bibs a day because he saturates them with drool.  He also likes putting everything (hands--his and ours, burp cloths, blankets) in his mouth, but like you said, I think it's just an exploratory thing.

  • All.the.time.  And we have the second tooth coming in so I don't see it getting lighter anytime soon.  Also, he looks like a prepubescent teenager b/c his face/chin is so broken out with all the drool!!
