Anyone else told to wait 6 weeks for sex after d&c?

I had my d&c yesterday afternoon, and on my discharge paperwork, my OB wrote that nothing should be inserted in the vagina for 6 weeks.  Did anyone else's doctor say that?  I've noticed in posts on this board that most doctors have said 2 weeks, so I was quite surprised to see I had to wait 6 weeks.

    My doc said to wait until the bleeding stopped.

    I was told 2 weeks.....we're halfway there!

    BFP#1: 7/14/10.  EDD: 3/19/11--MMC-- D&C 9/2/10.
    BFP#2: 12:22/10.EDD: 8/30/11 C/P 12/25/10
    BFP#3: 10/26/11 EDD: 7/2/12-- Daniel born 7/14/12.     I was told 2. 6 sounds VERY long to me. I would call and inquire. Then, let us know the reason too! :) I'm curious. Perhaps because they don't want you to get PG again soon? Still, why not just give a reminder about using some kind of birth control...?

    I was told 4 and at first was grateful but now 5 days after my procedure the bleeding has stopped and I honestly miss my DH and don't know if I will make it that long.  I go for my f/u on the 20th so I'll talk to my OB then.

    I was told 10 days at first, but then at the follow up (7 days after d&c), my dr told me to wait another week, even though everything is healing fine and it was my first time....I miss my DH too, but we want to be safe, not sorry.

    On the other hand, 6 weeks seems a bit extreme to me.  best of luck.

    My discharge papers said 4 weeks but I have my follow-up app this week so I'm going to ask about that!!

    Wow, looks like I'm in the minority on this!  My doctor doesn't even want to see me for 6 weeks.  I have to call in the morning to schedule my follow-up appointment, so I think I will talk to the nurse and ask her about this.  My SIL is a labor/delivery nurse and told me that 6 weeks seems to be a common practice in this area though.  I'll update when I find out more info.  Thanks!!

    I was also told 6 weeks. DH is not happy about it either! He is respecting that though. I go in Wednesday for follow up so will talk to the dr then.
