Question for second timers- did you medicate ahead of time when you had another baby. I'm due in 8 weeks and am debating what to do. Might just wait to see how I feel and just act a lot sooner if symptoms surface again this time. WDYT?
Also thanks for writing back about the celexa. I am very much hoping for positive results. were u on it for anxiety? or depression? or both? I am for both , I just fear my dose is too high (40mg) but I guess they can always lower it. They are probably just trying to get me feeling better quickly considering nothing else is working.
I guess you could technically say I was on it for both though I have suffered with anxiety my whole life and chose never to medicate. But the PPD was startling- I mean seriously a lot of crying, hopeless, weird suicidal images. Not like me at all, miss high strung anxiety girl. But my dose was enough- I really thought it was only 10mg, and I felt much better. Good luck!
I did not pre-medicate but I had prozac ready to go. I lasted about 4 days before I took it. I BF in the hospital and wanted to BF for a while at home. In some ways, I wish I took the prozac as soon as LO was born because I had such a hard week of anxiety post partum. I would talk to your doctor but also have an appoinment ready and medication ready to go if you need it. I had the medication but no appoinment so I was not able to see a therapist until one month post partum. By then I had been to hell and back and really didnt' need to talk about it anymore. Good luck!
