Hi ladies,
LO's 1st b-day is coming soon ( I know some other LO's turn 1 in the next month as well!!!). We'll have it on the rec center at my neighborhood. I have no idea about the schedule, so I need some advice on this from you ladies...how long do these parties last? At what time do they usually start? There is a rental fee per hour for the rec center so that is why I need some ideas...
LO takes a nap usually between 1.30-2.30 and sometimes he even takes a late afternoon nap at around 5.30 if he is really tired. So if the party starts at 3pm, how long should I expect people to stay? Does 3pm-6pm sound ok or is it too late? I could always move baby's nap earlier that day so the party starts at 2pm. I am planning to have our house ready for the adult guests to continue the party if they want to (more "grown up type thing, playing rock band maybe? hehehe)...
Any other advice in planning 1st b-day parties are mostly welcomed!
TIA!
Re: 1st birthday party - time?
does he take a morning nap? most babies do much better in the morning, can you do the party early, say 10am, and then have M take his usual nap while the adults continue the celebration?
Both of DS's parties have been about two hours long. I think 3-5 would be a great length. The party will likely wear him out, so he might want that second nap for the day. It'll also give your guests time to get home and grab dinner without it being too late.
If you move the guests back to your house, will your LO be able to nap with the extra noise?
Thanks for the advice! Most likely the Party will be in the afternoon since there will be OOT guests that will be travelling about 4 hours to get here, and probably will arrive to VA around noon.
A two hour length party sounds perfect, I will have to ask around about other LO's naps so the timing is good for all.
If we transfer the party to our house later that afternoon, most likely it will be outside in the deck or inside in the basement, so LO's room is away from it all (plus, we still play the rain sounds when he goes to sleep so the dog's barks don't bother him).
Thanks again!
