DS has gotten far too heavy to wear on the front (kills my back) but I'd love to wear him on my back or some other way. With the cool fall weather approaching I know we'll be doing lots more outdoors. Suggestions? Tips? Wisdom?

TIA!

Re: Babywearing: On the back
Do you already have a baby carrier?
The Ergo is great for back carries and pretty easy to use. There is also the Beco Butterfly and the Beco Gemini. Those are great if you want a soft structured buckle carrier. I haven't tried the Butterfly, but it's supposed to be really easy for backcarries because there is a panel in it that goes between you and LO so you secure them in the carrier before putting them on your back.
If you like wraps (like the Moby), you can use a woven wrap (which is not stretchy like the Moby) to wear LO on your back. You can look at some youtube videos to see how that's done and if it's something you think you'd like. You can search for back wrap cross carry, ruck tied in front, double hammock, ruck tied under bum.
Wow! Thanks for all the information MrsG. I have the Moby, but I know that you can't use it for back carrying since the material is too stretchy. I also have a soft formed carrier (MIL got it for me at Walmart, and honestly we used it more than the Moby, LO loved it) that can be used for back carrying as well but it is very uncomfortable and smooshes the poor BFing BBs.
I've got some googling to do. Thanks again!

I heart my BabyHawk. I have a moby and a woven wrap, but I'm no good at back carries in it... the Babyhawk, I *adore*.
I know a lot of people are very happy with their Becos, Ergos, and Piccolos - for some names to check out.
Thanks for the website, its very informative! Through my googling I found a place in my area run by a doula who makes appointments for you to come in and try all kinds of babywearing products. Its all free, she provides education and of course sells the products as well, but she'll also teach you how to best use a carrier even if you didn't buy it from her. Thanks for you help, I may page you with questions later after I look more into things!
