Baby Showers

Throwing a Baby Shower Dinner...what to serve?

I'm throwing a baby shower "dinner" next week, and am having a hard time figuring out what to serve. There will be about 14 of us, and I am hosting it at my home. Any suggestions? I'm looking for something delicious that I can make ahead of time and then pop in the oven. I'm also wondering what side dishes to serve. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks!

  • Chicken enchiladas are great to make in advance you can just keep them in the fridge and pop them in the oven the next day. If you make them really mild you wouldn't have to stay with a mexican theme you could serve ceaser salad and stuff on the side. Good luck!

*EDIT: You could always do lasagna too, everything goes with italian :)

  • You could do a baked ziti or lasagna with garlic bread and an italian salad (greens, olives, roasted peppers, sharp provelone and pickled vegetables).  If you want to have more than one option, you can do a veggie and a meat lasagna.  You could also do a baked pasta and eggplant parmesan.

  • anything fall themed! ...especially for the dessert! cupcakes are all the rage right now, something with leaves/ pumpkins on it - even fall colored sprinkles. Brownies cut in the shape of acorns and leaves using a cookie cutter. A pumpkin mousse parfait, too.

-Fruit and apples with a caramel dip for an appetizer...and a veggie dip, too of course.

-Maybe a sparkling Apple Cider punch bowl or even warm apple cider. If you want to do something with alcohol, maybe a cranberry drink.

-Turkey sandwitches say "Fall", to me.

    -Candied/Caramel Apples for favors.

Hope any of the ideas helped!

  • I like the Italian idea as well...  Italian food is easy to serve to large crowds.

I often serve this stuffed shell recipe to large crowds.  Easy to make early in the morning, and then pop in the oven as the guests start arriving.  I usually only get 25 shells stuffed, so I would definitely double (or maybe even triple?) to serve 14 people.

Serve w/ bread, salad, fresh fruit, and maybe another appetizer.
