Trying to Get Pregnant

How long after you've been TTC should you...

Should you wait to test?? I keep reading all sorts of articles, books, etc. and they all say different things. We are "Newbies" at TTC. I've been reading so much about all of this, it's all starting to sound the same. Okay, so after you've been TTC how long before symptoms of pregnancy show up? When should the implantation bleeding take place? Also, how long should I wait to test?

What I've read says that:

Symptoms show up as little as a week after?

Implantation is 3-7 days after?

Testing is 5 days before missed period?

Also how long should Implantation bleeding last for?

Re: How long after you've been TTC should you...

  • You don't necessarily get implantation bleeding, or feel anything.  Symptoms can start as late as 6-8 weeks.  You can test 5 days before your missed period, but for the best accuracy, it's best to wait until AF is due.

If you have implantation bleeding, it could just be spotting, or in my case I had brown spotting for the first 11 weeks of my pregnancy.

I had symptoms starting at 7 weeks, sore bbs.  Morning sickness started at 8 weeks for me.

I got my bfp 4 days after AF was due.

As for testing, I would wait until 14 days after you ovulate. Some recommend waiting longer but other cave and test earlier (I'm guilty of that!).

Around here somewhere there is a great newbie information post...(anyone have a link??)

    Good luck!

  • I would wait until 14DPO to test.  I got a BFN 13DPO & a BFP 14DPO (the day my period was due).  Most women do NOT experience implantation bleeding, so I wouldn't base anything off of that.  As for symptoms, I had them from about 10-days after my BFP.

It helped me a lot after some lurking on these boards and I started posting soon after. Our first month TTC I tested early but after all that and wondering what were symptoms or could be symptoms...we have decided to wait to test until 1 week late. GL!
