Laurie. Sometimes it annoys me that people automatically think it is spelled Lori. My mom spelled it that way so it was the same amount of letters as my sis Leslie.

Frankly it's annoying because it's very common. I'm also 2nd gen German and I lived in Germany from the time I was 1year until 6, so when I was little and when I talk to my family it's always spelt/pronounced wrong. To my family I'm Elisabet even though I'm not

Jennifer. Nothing like having the most popular name EVER.
This.
Mine's Jessica.
I hate when someone says my name, and I turn around and they say "not you".
BUT - my maiden name was impossible to pronounce and spell, and the inconveniences of having to CONSTANTLY spell/pronounce your name are way worse than the inconveniences of having a common one IMO.
ETA: People also call me Jennifer ALL THE TIME for some reason - I don't get it. Do Jennifers get called Jessica?

Jennifer. Nothing like having the most popular name EVER.
this!!
At my office there are 2 desk spaces to a cube and I share it with another Jennifer. Anytime anybody comes up to talk to one us and they say Jennifer we both turn around.
From miscarriages, a diagnosis of a bicornuate uterus, and fibroid removal surgery...It's been quite the journey but it was all well worth it.
Jennifer. Nothing like having the most popular name EVER.
This. Except my name is actually Jenny. Just Jenny. Not Jennifer. And everyone assumes and tries to call me Jennifer. Frustrating.

2IF does not always equal 3IF...Surprise!
I like that I'm Kathy instead of Katie. No that there's anything wrong with Katie, it's just really common (see PP's for proof ) Kathy was more common in my mom's generation.
My only problem is knowing which to put where. I only go by Kathy but Katherine is my legal name.
These were both kept in consideration when I choose Jason's name. It's less common now than it was in our generation (tons of my friends are married to Jasons) and I didn't want him to worry about what name to use.
I really like it. It's pronounced like Alyssa. I hate that some people can't seem to pronounce it no matter how many times I correct them. Although I think if I have to correct someone several times and they still get it wrong that they problem is with them, not with my name. I've resorted to answering to anything that remotely sounds like my name.

After being on bedrest for 10 weeks due to TTTS and hospital bedrest for 4 weeks due to PPROM, my sticky babies are here! Born at 32 weeks!!
I like it, but no one ever pronounces or spells it correctly. But honestly I can't imagine being named something else.

And I was surprised that there were two other Leah's on the pgal board, and actually I think they post frequently here too...it's not a very common name, and to see it on here twice is different. I love my name, and I think the story in the bible about Leah is kind of funny, albeit sad. I especially love my middle name, Noelle, I was born three days before Christmas, hence the middle name!!

Michelle, but I go by Mikki since there were 3 other Michelles in my Kindergarten class alone, so the teacher had us change that. And my parents have always called me Mikki.
I like it. It suits me well, I guess. It's pronounced ONdrea, not ANdrea. I respond to both because it seems like ANdrea is more popular and people forget there is another way to pronounce it. When I graduated from college and veterinary school, though, I made sure that the deans pronounced it properly, since my mom was in the audience!

I didn't like it when I was growing up, but now I love it. It's unique, easy to spell and people rarely mispronounce it (except when they try to call me Laura or Norma - two of my big pet peeves!)
I HATED it growing up. The whole "wanting to be like everyone else" thing was hard because my name was so different. As an adult I love it. I thing it's awesome that my name is so unique. I was named after my great grandmother so it's really meaningful to my family. It is starting to become more popular, but I'm okay with that
Good poll, btw!

Nicole Elizabeth I actually love my name! My parents were going to name me Crystal Belle....so Nicole Elizabeth I think is a huge step up from that! haha. The only part about it I don't like is people automatically think it's ok to call me Nikki! I HATE that! It's Nicole...it doesn't need to be shortened! lol!

Margaret. Most people call me Maggie. I like it. It is classic and not a lot of people. Sometimes I felt like it was an old persons name but I really love it and I think Maggie is a cute nickname.
Late to the game but I'm an 80's Ashley. Also one of the most popular names among girls my age. There were 6 in my graduating class. The only thing I really hate about it is that people call me Ash. I can't be mad at them since there's really no other shortening option, but I don't like it.

Kristina/Kristi
I really like my name, especially how it's spelled. I also think it's one of those names that it's easy to smile when you say it!
Kate.
Yeah it's okay but people have a hard time understanding it for some reason. Your guess would be as good as mine.
I'm one of those Katharine that goes by Kate though and that's super annoying.
Shelley - again problems with people spelling it correctly.
I like it - it's a bit cheerleadery, but it suits me

Love it... it fits me and my personality! Its also not an uncommon or overused name in my opinion and thats what makes me like it too.
