Birthday party ideas for 7 and 9 year old

I need help with birthday party ideas for a 7 year old boy and a 9 year old girl. This will be the last year I'll be doing their parties together. Were having the party in our back yard which is pretty big so we have lots of room. My son loves star wars and she loves fashion anything girly. For the girls I was going to have a table where there is nail polish and make up and hair stuff where they can do each others. For the boys I was going to look for stuff they can make star war light sabers or mask.

Any ideas I wasn't sure where to ask

    Both my kids just had birthdays (DS turned 6 and DD turned 10) and kids their age range LOVE traditional party games.  All the party kids really got into playing Simon Says, Mother May I, Red Light/Green Light, and other stuff like this.  Games like this are perfect for school-aged kids because they're old enough to understand and follow rules (and not get too bent out of shape if they lose!) and still young enough not to feel like these old stand-bys are lame.

    I have a 5yr old and a 10 yr old both boys... but I always found that when you have space and if the weather is nice a water ballon party (...and eventually water balloon fight) has always turned out fun. Last time what we did was made a huge target and started by letting the kids hit it to see who got the closest to the target, then they all rounded up in there own age groups and had a blast with the water balloons. I also had bands for them to trade out when they were hit or hit someone...I gave them like 15 each. The small water balloons arent sesitive if they hit the grass and are really inexpensive, so you can get lots of them. (Oh, make sure to let parents know to bring a towel and a change of clothes for the kids....and themselves=)!!) Its uni-sex and soooo much fun. Hope all gos well and have a great time.
