I have taken Effexor for years (not during pregnancy). I then had to start it back up again after I had my baby. The withdrawals are horrendous. The pill did wonders for me, makes me normal which is great, but coming off it is hell. Google Effexor withdrawal and you will find a ton of info.
This! It was a wonderful drug for me but coming off of it was a nightmare. And my dr at the time was an idiot and told me to stop cold turkey! I realized quickly that wasn't a good idea so I weaned myself. I would have gone back on now but you can't take it while bf'ing. And it's more for anxiety than depression.
If you are depressed, side effects of withdrawing from a pill should be the least of your concerns!
I was on effexor and it was amazing for me! I had to switch to zoloft since we wanted to get pregnant. I didn't have any withdrawl symptoms during the switch, but I had previously missed a few doses and experienced those lovely "brain zaps" which feel like you've jumped into a pool of freezing water and your whole brain goes "OMIGAH!!" For a split second.
