Babies: 9 - 12 Months

F/U on mom's group

went to the mom's group meeting this morning and it was great!  LO really hasnt been around kids or babies much so she was trying to climb all over them, eat their snacks, and steal their pacifiers..BUT she was the youngest there and all the moms thought she was really sweet.

all the moms were super nice and they plan a lot for the year! sounds like it should be fun! cannot wait to start doing things with them

  • Yay! Good for you. I joined one here too. We just moved here a year ago and don't know anyone. Anyway I am so glad I did, and we went to our playgroup today too!

  • I had been thinking about posting a thread like the OP, I've gotten into MOPS. Anybody else? The only thing is, it's not really the kind of group where the Moms and kids are always together during the meetings. When they have the official monthly meetings, childcare is provided.

So here's my thing, I wanted to get into something like this for DS - so HE could socialize. But, even tho he likes playin w/ the kids he doesn't want me to leave him. He hasn't been watched by other people much except DH. They don't completely refrain from you keeping your LO w/ you, but it's known that they prefer that you leave them in the play-rooms. The playdates throughout the month are cool tho. What do y'all think of your groups so far?

  • I want to join a playgroup as well but how do you fit it into your daily schedule with your LO?  Between the naps and eating finger foods now....I feel like I can't do too much.  Are you letting LO miss a nap?
  • I'm glad you had fun! I need to get DS to a play group. We were at the Pedi's office today and he didn't know what to do with the other kids, he just tried to take their toys.

  • as far as fitting it into her schedule...this moms group is super flexible. you can attend as many or as little activities as you want.  they understand cuz they are moms too!

today it worked out well because it was between naps and i just brought some easy snacks and a bottle with us!  i dont know how itll be the rest of the time we're with this group so I'll just see how it goes! its tricky cuz currently LO still takes 2-3 naps a day and eats soooo much. so who knows!
