I got very lucky that my Aunt knitted a beautiful baptism outfit for Baby Girl. It's a dress, a hat and booties. We plan on putting a plain white onesie under it.

Will your LO be baptized in clothing? I know some churches do and some do without.
Yes, he will be in his clothing. Upstate NY at the end of november.
Our church has a fountain and it's naked babies all year around (I'm in the great lakes area). After the actually baptism part, the parents dress the baby so they aren't unclothed for very long and parents use a blanket before hand.
DH's grandmother knitted a beautiful white gown for LO to be baptized in. She also knitted a white matching blanket. Now all I have to do is set up a date with our church. I'm totally putting this off for some reason.
I hope to use my family's gown, it was my great grandfather's and we all used it, but I still need to talk to my grandma about it. I used to work at Dillard's and they have baptism outfits. I know they don't have Dillard's dept stores in NY, but you can look at their website. You might be able to check Macy's too.
I have a gown that was passed down that my dad and uncle wore along with me.....my question is its one of the long ones....im having a boy (i know my dad and uncle wore it but that was so long ago) is it normal for little baby boys to wear a gown?????

we're probably not going to baptize until next summer probably by my sister or a friend of ours who's a reverend right in my backyard (I refuse to join a church) - so we can have a big outdoor cookout afterwards.... but i've promised my grandmother I will get pictures of our son in the baptismal gown that my father and I wore, and I think a couple other generations have worn. So we'll probably get the pictures down within a few months of him being born so that he fits in the gown. not really thrilled about being told to do this, but if it makes my very traditional grandmother happy, then I guess I just don't have much of a choice. (this way she's happy and I don't have to hear about how disappointed she was later on)

My mom is making his outfit out of my wedding dress. It's from a McCalls pattern. She's really nervous about it, but I've convinced her to do it--there's enough material in my dress that if she messes up it's okay!

We have a family gown which was originally worn by my grandmother...about 90 yrs old.
Look on Strasburg. They have some beautiful, classic outfits and gowns.
