High Fever and Teething (Molars)

For my DS's first molar, he had a temp around 103 the day or two before...no other symptoms and took him to the doctor to get checked out. All she said she saw was inflamed molars. My DS gets very high fevers, like 104, has been as high as 105. This seems to be happening again and he is drooling with an inflamed molar.

I know fevers are supposed to be low grade with molars, but how high has your child's fever gotten when they cut a tooth?

TIA!

Re: High Fever and Teething (Molars)

  • DS got low-grade fevers with his molars, along with an earache which could have been the fever source.

With his very last canine, he had a fever of 103 for a day and a half. Once the tooth errupted, he was fine.

I've been told that teething does not cause fevers, yet fever is the body's reaction to being out of sorts....

I would just control it with Motrin/Tylenol and keep your eye on it.
