My belly band is so uncomfortable

that I had to take it off mid-day a few days ago.  I was between a 4-6 before I found out I was pregnant and got small/med belly band.  I didn't think I needed med/large, but it just feels so tight and constricting.  I am probably just going to continue to use the rubber band trick until I breakdown and buy maternity pants (which may be soon b/c I feel kinda gross walking around with my pants unbuttoned). Anyone else find the bellyband ridiculously uncomfortable or did I just get really fat really quickly?

Re: My belly band is so uncomfortable

  • Mine is only comfortable when I'm standing up. As soon as I sit down, it rolls and gets all kinds of messed up. It's basically a giant hassle.

  • It's nice to have something to keep my jeans up, but it's not fun feeling like i have pantyhose wrapped around my tummy. I find it restricting and I feel uncomforable in it. I am debating going to get a pair of maternity jeans this weekend, a little present to myself for making it to 12 weeks! It might be too early but I figured it would be more comfortable than this. I'm sure the moms further ahead of me are laughing because all I have is a small pudge, just so uncomfortable in anything other than sweatpants!

  • I was fat to begin with, but IMO the belly band has such a short life with me while pg.  My problem is that while pg I cannot STAND things on my belly, right from the get go.  So I started wearing mat. pants at 8.5 weeks.  Do I feel bad or embarrassed by that?  NOPE!  I feel kinda comfy let it all hang out.  LMAO

  • based on all the complaints other people have, i doubt i will be able to find anything comfortable, so when my clothes stop fitting i'm just going to switch to muumuus.

HAHA  I wish they would look half way decent and every pg woman would probably be in them!

  • mine was uncomfortable, becaus ei was wearing low rise jeans under it and it felt like they were faling down... I wondered if i should have bought a small/med instead of large/xlarge because i'm a size 10 and it seemed big.  My sil said it works better and is more comfortable when you're a bit bigger.

  • mine is actually really comfortable. i am a size 8 pre-pg so i decided to get the med/large band. 8 was on the larger side of sm/med so i figured i would go bigger and im glad i did. i actually like the feeling of support it gives me because i am crazy bloated. i did buy one pair of maternity pants last weekend and wore them to work one day this week. now that was heaven!!

  • I LOVE my belly band!  I wear it religiously because i can't button my clothes.  And the rubberband just wont cut it because if a 9th grade boy (whom I teach) realized my pants were unbuttoned and i had a rubber band I would never hear the end of it.

THIS! Its really annoying because it rolls everywhere! Oh and yes it is VERY tight!!

I don't wear it anymore, I decided to just go ahead and make my self a favor and buy maternity clothes...they're comfy :D

  • Not so much uncomfortable as every time I stand up or sit down I have to readjust it, so way more trouble than it's worth.  I can't believe I bought another one this time around -- there's a reason I probably threw the last one away!
  • I wore maternity jeans to work today and it felt oh so good.  I bought a pair thinking that I wouldn't wear them for a while, but they are great!  I'm only 13 weeks, but why be uncomfortable!  I don't even want to go back to my old jeans and the beband again.  I think it's time for me to do some shopping.

  • I tried on a belly band in the store and hated it!  Didn't waste the money.  Go get a couple pairs of maternity pants, they are so comfy!!!  I was even telling my friends that I think everyone should always wear maternity pants because they are so comfortable!

    ditto this.

  • I've also started wearing maternity pants already.  I just couldn't stand the pressure on my belly and they are SO much more comfortable.  If I do wear my old jeans I leave the top button undone and wear a belt.

  • I didnt really need it yet except for one pair of pants. It was comfortable but didnt work at all. The belly band was around my waist and the pants were falling down. I will be returning it. It sucked.
  • I gave it up a few days ago. I'm a teacher so I move around a lot during the day. I hate how it rolls down when I'm sitting and then I have to readjust my pants when I stand up. When I'm standing sometimes it just feels tight and annoying. I would much rather do maternity pants than have to bother with the belly band. I now have 2 pairs of mat pants (jeans and capris for work), several tops (to keep my chest under wraps!) and a few dresses.  I think this should get me through the next few weeks nicely.

  • I love mine! I was a 9 pre preg. And got a med/lrg. Mine does not really roll around. Maybe my belly is just big enough to pull in tight, or not big enough to make it roll around? I do the rubberband trick and cover with bellaband. Its nice for the pants falling issue AND the shirt rising issue. If it were not comfortable I would wear long tank tops underneath(i still do sometimes)
