Bedtime baths every night?

I notice a lot of you mention baths in your bedtime routine.  Are you giving a bath every night?

  • We do. DD seems to look for it  and get fussy if we wait too long.  Then the second we plop her in the bath she's content again :)

  • Every other night.  Pedi said every night can dry out their sensitive skin.

  • We bathe DD every night.  She loves her baths and we do it because she goes to daycare and I always feel like she's "dirty" even though she's probably not.
  • No, we only bathe DS a few times a week. Since we may not be able to bathe him if we are not home, I don't want him to get used to it as part of his regular routine.

  • We give DS a bath every night, but we only use soap every other day so we don't dry out his skin.

Same thing here. We only use soap every other night to avoid drying out his skin.

  • I bathe my little one every night and in the mornings too.  Sounds like a bit much...but she has some serious reflux and is a messy girl!  :)  (she doesnt have irritable skin, otherwise I'd limit it to once a day)

  • I bath every other day, or sometimes every 2, he is still not a fan, so it fires him up more then chills him out.....he has dry skin too so I try and not make it worse, I was him down with a warm wash cloth everynight

  • We give a bath every night. It's completely part of her routine and we have no skin issues in doing so. She loves bath and it calms her instantly if we are having a rough night!

  • We bathe every other night and on the nights we don't bathe she gets a massage.  So she gets a "ritual" every night, just not always the same one.

Ditto this. Although we do skip nights here and there. She loves bathtime though.

  • Yes every night. He will fuss when he gets tired and we know its bathtime. Then after he gets a warm lotion massage then eat then to sleep for the night.

    All this

  • I've read you should not bathe young babies every day. It can irritate their skin and they don't need it. LO loves his bath and Iook forward to when we do it every night, but you don't need to do that every day till they start crawling and eating and getting dirty every day. Now, we bathe him like every 3rd day.
  • I go every other night unless she gets dirty and needs it or if she is really fussy one night I usually give her one because it calms her down...

  • Every night....Jack is a hot sweaty mess and has a headfull of hair which looks greasy if we do not wash it every day.  He also LOVES taking a bath and kicks and squeals the entire bath!

This. DD loves her baths right before her last feeding.

  • Typically I'll only give her a bath if she's been spitting up a lot and then rolling around in the spit up.

So, just about every day, haha.  I use J&J's oatmeal shampoo and it moisturizes her skin real well.  If I go too long w/out giving her a bath, her skin will get irritated (around her chin and cheeks) from all the drool and spit up and she'll kind of break out.

  • Oh man, heck no.  Twice a week here.  There never seems to be enough time in the evening, and she doesn't get that dirty yet.

us too...usually every 5-6 days actually. He has really dry skin and our Pedi said they don't need a bath more than once a week at this age especially since the soap is so drying. He is wiped down from head to toe daily with a warm washcloth, which I also rub on his head to take away some of the greasiness. And I am a freak about having a clean kid and once a week seems to work well for us. Once he is mobile we'll increase the baths per week.

This exactly! Usually 2 maybe 3 times a week if we had a rough day but frankly a lot of times when I pick her up from daycare she is in the middle of her last nap and by the time she really wakes up around 6:30 or 7 we change her into her PJs, feed her spend some time with daddy while we make dinner and read a few books and she is ready for bed at 8 or 8:30.  I honestly dont know how we are going to work in a routine bath every night once she has to have one, I feel completely stretched now for time as it is.

  • We do, but still are only using shampoo/soap everyother day. Mr. D. really likes the water and splashing around. Plus it is the start of our goodnight routine and we want to keep it!

I think it'll be easier when she can sit up and we can put her in the big bathtub with DS when he takes a bath.  Dealing with the infant tub is a PITA.

  • We do every other night.
