I don't know what to do.... help me decide!

My good friend's DS's 1st birthday party is tomorrow afternoon.

My friend, the mom, has been sick this week. Like, on antibiotics sick. I'm torn about if it's a good idea for me to go to this party tomorrow.

Take the risk that I catch something and have to postpone surgery, or do you think that after a week worth of antibiotics, she's not contagious or whatever and I should just go?

Aaargh!

I wouldn't take the risk. I think your friend would understand. The risk of postponing surgery would just not be worth it to me.

Hon, honestly I'd skip it. I'd also be skipping stores, playgrounds, and any other spaces where germs could be circulating. You are SO close to surgery. SO close. Don't risk anything that would delay it again. I'm sure your friend will understand.

Ditto the pps. The other partiers would worry me more than a sick Mama. And if I were her, I would feel awful if you got sick as a result of the birthday party.

I would skip it and I personally think she will understand, I mean I wouldn't want the guilt on me of you having to put off something you need and have been waiting so long for.

I definitely agree with pp's. To be this close to surgery after everything it took to get you there, it doesn't seem worth it to me. I am sure that your friend will understand. And it's her DS's first birthday,so it's not like he's going to remember who was there and who wasn't!

Skip it Lizz. No matter how good the cake is, you would feel terrible if you got sick and had to move the surgery again. Everything is lined up and ready to go, you just have to sit on the sidelines for a few more days.
