Questions for those that are BOB owners

I have about 2 weeks till I get cleared from my OB to start exercising again. I'm anxious to start walking and then eventually start running again. I know I can't run with Jack till he's 6 months old but would you take him to the town lake trail for a walk in a BOB stroller (car seat attachment of course)? DH and I miss our runs on the trail and our dog would really enjoy the exercise if we could go otherwise I'd just go with the dog.

I'm wondering if I should invest in the stroller now or wait till 6 months till I can run with him?

FWIW, the BOB wouldn't be my only stroller. We'd probably do another stroller for shopping trips etc.

Re: Questions for those that are BOB owners

  • If you have the car seat adapter, you don't need to wait until 6 mos.  You can put him in the car seat- make sure his head/neck is supported and stick to paved paths.

  • I don't run (unless someone is chasing me. lol!)  But I have a BOB and love it!  I would frequently go walking with DS on the hike and bike trail around town lake and it was great to have.   My daily stroller (Chicco) would not have made the cut with the gravel and such. It's definitely a city stroller.

I've even taken the BOB to McKinney Falls when we hike some of the more flat side trails.  I'd say get one now and walk with it.  When you're little one is old enough, you'll have it to run with.

You'll probably need to get the car seat attachment for it (they're sold separately).

  • love my bob- i use it at the mall too, it was our primary single stroller!  wish i had a double, but we throw lily on the front and call it a 'poor man's double'.  we get awesome looks when we walk around the mall or town lake like that.  hehe ;)
  • i am a runner and towards the end of my pregnancy, i walked 5 miles at least 4 days a week. i was convinced i had to have the bob so i could run. we have the car seat adapter. i ended up walking and not running til she got a little older. i run with here now. the bob is awesome. my friend ran with her son when he was 3 months old.  so, if you are ready and you think your lo is ready, go for it!

  • I started running with the BOB as soon as I got cleared at 6 weeks. The car seat adapter is great and they are fully supported and safe from jostling/bouncing/etc.

  • Like Mcurban said, if you have a car seat adaptor then you can run with DC sooner.  I was taking DS out on runs with me probably at about two months.  I love my BOB.  I say just get it now.
  • Thanks ladies!!!

I'm so excited to know that I don't have to wait till 6 months to run with him. YAY!!!! DH (and the dog) will be happy too. My birthday was the day before Jack was born and I received a gift card and now I can't wait to use it towards it!!!

These two weeks need to fly by (kinda).

Do you think it's to hot to take him? We'd go in the mornings and do a short 3 mile loop.

  • If you go in the morning I think you should be fine.  If you think he might get too hot, I usually get a gel ice pack and wrap it in a receiving blanket and put it behind him in his carseat.  DS is a mini heater.
