What temp. weather do you start putting dc in pants?

Especially for those in cooler states...

I am in Mass. and have a hard time determining when to put ds & dd in pants for school.  It is cooler in the morning but then is still getting warm in the afternoon.  Also, I am an extremely cold person.  So, I can't really got by myself.

What do you do?

  • IDK, I kind of go by feel, rather than the number, and whether it would be sunny, rainy, cloudy, etc.

When cooler in the morning (like cool enough to need a jacket), for sure pants, regardless of the temp in the afternoon. If the afternoon temp was to get warmer, I would just put on a short sleeved shirt for the kids, rather than a longsleeve.

For DD, I may do capris if the afternoon temp was going to be warmer.

  • If the temp is going to go above 70, I'm okay with shorts or capris.

  • I am in MA too.  I put DS in pants today.  I usually put him in pants if it is going to be under 70 degrees for the whole day.
  • matt wore pants to his third day of K in chilly ny.  i'm cold right now.  i think it was 95 this time last week.

  • I put DS in pants today, and the high was between 65-68. I am in shorts, myself, but I wear shorts with sweatshirts and turtlenecks well into December if I can get away with it.

  • I generally go by what I feel comfortable with. Low 60s for me is pants. Mid-upper 60s depends on how sunny it is. I think it got up to 65 today, and DD chose to wear a sleeveless dress. I had her put capri length leggings underneath and sent her with a sweater.

  • I'm okay with capris or a skirt/dress if the temp is going to be over 70. Below that, and we do pants or leggings.
  • If it's chilly in the morning, but I know it's going to warm up later then I send them in pants and a short sleeved shirt OR shorts with a lightweight jacket.  Definitely not thinking about pants here yet though, its been over 90 every day still.
