Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Mom's of 2+, Double stroller recs?

Please recommend your double stroller.  I was browsing them today. They are REALLY heavy. I'm no wimp by any means but a 40+lb stroller? I would really just like to get a light weight one but that won't help when #2 is an infant.  I suppose I could just wear LO#2 and just put DS in one of our current strollers.  Thoughts? TIA!

  • I wore DS and used my single, then eventually got a jeep umbrella double when he was older.

  • I originally bought the BJ City Select and then returned it and got the Britax B-ready and LOVE it. I have yet to use as a double as baby #2 is not due until December. I actually too pictures of DD in it iwth all the different configurations (car seat, 2nd seat and bassinet)...I was planning on making a page with all the pictures so people can see how it looks with a toddler (a rather large toddler, LOL), in it.

  • We bought a Phil and Ted's Sport just before my second child's birth and have used it for all 3 kids. They're all 1.5 years apart so there was even a time when we had an infant and toddler in the stroller and a preschooler on a kickboard!

I couldn't live without it. It's not so heavy that we can't deal with it at the airport and I can get it into and out of the car easily.

We also have a double BOB, which is great for long walks and jogging but I wouldn't be able to run errands with it where we live (dense city).

  • we're in the market for a double as well so I'm interested to see these rec's.

we're looking at going with the Joovy Caboose Ultralight, which is a sit and stand, but it's very reasonably priced and its only 21lbs (plus carseat). We tried it out at the store and really liked it, but of course we don't have LO #2 yet...

  • I adore my Phil and Ted's single/double combo stroller.  It is heavy, but it pushes incredibly smoothly and fits in tight spaces (a rare trait in a double stroller).  When DD2 was really little I did a lot of the single stroller/wrap combo, but she got heavy very quickly and also wasn't a huge fan of being worn.  DD1 would be almost out of the stroller if we didn't live in an urban area and walk most places (there are times I just don't have the time/patience/energy to  wait for a 3 year old to walk somewhere).

  • #2 is not here yet-  but DH and I took B to the stores and played around with the strollers.  I think that is crucial.  I was all about the City Select bc of everything I have read on here, and I hated pushing it, I really was not a fan of the inline seating.  My fave was def. the Baby Jogger city mini

  • I have the bumbleride indie twin and LOVE it.  Definitely a very smooth ride.  It is not too heavy, I can get it in and out of the car just fine.  And it fits through all doorways.

I hadn't considered a sit and stand type.  Did you have any trouble getting your toddler to stay put on the "stand" part?  That is my concern with those.
