DH & I are trying to figure out how to do the nursery in our house.
We want to do a forest theme - deer/owls/hedgehogs/bunnies - that kind of stuff. We're keeping it gender neutral (team green) as well.
The problem we're running into is that our house is an "A frame" so the nursery is on the second floor, which means the two main walls are slanted inward and form a peak at the ceiling.
We want to pain the room green but are staying away from pastels, I've never been a huge fan of the lighter colors. So the greens I've picked out are darker. We fear that the dark color may overwhelm the room quickly so we're trying to figure out a good way to break it up.
Also - any fun
ideas on what to do with our giant ceilings in the room? I'm guessing
they're at least 12 feet tall at the peak.

You could paint a mural of clouds... thats outdoorsy. Do you have your bedding yet?
Or, I think you said your DH was a duck hunter...my dh always talks about hanging his duck mounts from the ceiling...silly boy

Search etsy for some cute decals. They come off easy when you want to change it up and they are cheap.

I like the decals idea and DS has some Winnie the Pooh ones in his room and they are so cute. To add decoration you can add a cute border on the bottom. Here is what we just ordered for DS new room since the new baby is moving into his.

I love this picture and theme, Tarah. They went with a darker green wall color, and then some lighter colors as accents around the room, so the colors are broken up nicely...

Thanks for all the suggestions - I think we're going to end up going with something like this color & decoration wise (minus the name)
This is all "talk" at the moment but we're thinking is having Jason build a knee wall at the bottom of the slanted walls so for about 3-4 feet it will be flat vs slanted. We may or may not make that storage. Kind of like this:
We'll paint the knee wall either brown like the first picture or white. Then do a green on the top half of that wall & the other walls and we're trying to find a tree mural like this picture as well. We really like it.
The thing I'm finding though is the forest wall decals I'm finding all cut off at the top where the ceiling should be. With our high ceilings I was hoping to find some decals of full trees.
Thanks for the thoughts & ideas! Hopefully this comes together easy.
That first one is really neat. Instead of paint or decals (if you aren't finding one tall enough) maybe Jason could cut them out of wood like this:
