DH and I are going to be celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary later this month. We had planned to head to the beach for the weekend to stay at our friends' condo. They offered to let us use it (free of charge!) awhile ago, and we *thought* we took them up on the offer.
When we called today to figure out final plans, they had no idea what we were talking about! I was mortified (thinking I would seem rude) and they were too (b/c they forgot)! While they were wonderful, it seems the condo will most likely not be available for us after all.
So, now, I'm scouring the internet for something romantic yet inexpensive for us to do. I'm kicking myself for using our "anniversary money" to redecorate the living room.
*sigh* Any romantic yet inexpensive ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Re: When will I learn to plan ahead?
Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle!

And, let me just apologize in advance for the post and run. I'm exhausted, and I'm turning in for the night. But, if you have any ideas, I'll check back in the morning.
Good night, ladies.
Ditto look for a B&B or country inn. Don't know where in NC you are but I have to imagine there's tons of options nearby.
Also (and this is from someone who DOES NOT camp). Look for nicer cabin rentals. Some are actually extremely nice. You could make it an "unplug from everything" weekend. DH and I did this once and it was kinda nice just playing games by the fire, reading, making smores, walking, etc.
Other option is ditch the 'trip' idea completely. If you guys are foodies then splurge on an insanely expensive dinner or tickets to a game or show.
