Feeling guilty about not working out anymore!

So I'm almost 34 weeks and my work out schedule has really slowed down since I got into the 3rd trimester. I'm disappointed because I thought I'd be one of those women that work out up until their due date, but the pain and fatigue are really getting to me. Am I going to have a set back on "bouncing back" after baby is born now?

Re: Feeling guilty about not working out anymore!

  • There's no telling really on how fast you will "bounce back" whether you are working out or not. The best thing to do is listen to your body. If it makes you feel better maybe try prenatal yoga or something?

I have to say, I feel ya though! I am still working out but getting really tired. I hope I make it til the end! Growing a baby takes a lot out of ya!

  • One thing that I have started to do in the last couple weeks as my motivation flags is to pick one "special" thing to do for myself at the end of each week to celebrate continuing to work out (get a pedicure, buy something for the nursery etc). I've set a goal to make it to 37 weeks. After that I plan on scaling back as much as I want, and hope that I don't lose too much fitness in the weeks between then and when I deliver. Good luck to you - you're getting so close!

  • After becoming pregnant I've realized guilt is waste.  I am 21 weeks and l started the pregnancy (we did IUI) with cysts on both ovaries (side effect of meds) and wasn't allowed to work out for the entire 1st trimester.  I started back to yoga taking 1 private prenatal lesson and doing it at home and before my last private lesson my FIL unexpectedly died and I've lost another month and half.  Between starting classes for the semester and helping my MIL its gotten away from me.  BUT today I will do some yoga at home today.  I also feel tired a lot don't be hard on yourself.  You've made it this far and your about to have the baby.  Listen to your body thats whats important.
  • You've done well! I was rocking out (ok, pretty puny workouts actually) 5-6 days a week all summer and then as school as school started (I'm a teacher) it all went in the crapper. And I immediately packed on the pounds. Sigh. Stupid school. And I'm not in my 3rd tri yet. Here's hoping I can pick up the pace!
