My best friend is doing this for her niece's first birthday in a few weeks. She's actually a pastry chef and has the cutest ideas for a cupcake bar. All different flavors of cupcakes with different frostings and sprinkles, candies, etc. to decorate them with, and then guests can just help themselves to dessert and have fun with it!

I've heard of a diaper cupcake in place of a diaper cake. I'm sure if you google it you can find the how-to's and pictures.

My sil, sis, and I made flower pot cupcakes for my shower. They turned out great and we used them as centerpieces before the guests started taking the "flowers" off and ate them.

You could have guests create cupcake onesies. Give everyone a white onesie and provide paint pens or fabric paint for them to decorate with cupcake images!

I make onesie, bib, and washcloth cupcakes. They are not hard to make and would make cute centerpieces. You could even do adult washcloths cupcakes as favors for guests. There are a ton of tutorials online.
