Tegan's been having runny diapers for over a week and now she has an ear infection and the antibiotics are only making things worse. We're adding a probiotic to her formula and it's helping a tiny bit, but the poor baby has horrible diaper rash. At home, I've been letting her air out a couple times a day, giving her a longer bath every evening and wiping her with a washcloth instead of baby wipes.
I've been using a combination of Boudreaux's Butt Paste and regular Aquaphor, and that was working, but now it doesn't seem to be doing much good. What have you used for diaper rash?
Re: What do you use for diaper rash?
I put Desitin on her tonight, before putting on her overnight diaper. I'm hoping that it'll work better than the other stuff I've been using. She's already so miserable with the ear infection and tummy stuff, that I hate to think she's hurting anywhere else.
Bag balm! I know it sounds crazy, but it works! A co-worker swears by it and I tried it- sure enough! That's all I use now!
Another thing you can try (suggestion from my Dr.) is to pour a tsp. of Mylanta in the baby's diaper. When they go potty, the Mylanta immediately takes the acidity out of the pee/poo which keeps it from irritating the skin until you change the diaper.
