Yogurt at 6 months??

When can babies start yogurt?  Is it 6 months? Nicky had a milk protein allergy as an infant, so I didn't give him yogurt until he was older.

Re: Yogurt at 6 months??

  • yes, totally! I would get the plain, whole milk yogurt and mix it with pureed fruit (jarred or your own), since the ones Yobaby and other have lots of sugar in them!

  • Yup in general 6 months is ok (whole milk...not fat free and no artificial sweeteners) and to make sure to introduce same way as other foods, every 3 days to catch any allergies. Seems allergies run in the family, so make sure to talk to the pedi before introducing. Some pedis are in the school of thought to avoid till later but some think it's a good idea to introduce on time to desensitize and try to "soften" up the allergy. Hope this helps.

  • Exactly the way Virginia said it! We started Zoe on it at 6 months. It's great cause of the probiotics.
  • We started at 6 months. I preferred greek yogurt since it was a little thicker and I mixed in yummy fruit purees with it. Zachary loves yogurt.
