Did you follow your lifting restrictions for your entire 5-6 weeks PP?
I am feeling really good, have been cleared to drive for a week, and really want to get out of the house with LO. But, I can't lift the car seat or the stroller out of my car since I was told not to lift anything heavier than LO. I'm trying to decide if I want to be bad and disregard these instructions.
Re: C-section Moms - lifting restrictions
At 2 weeks, I was walking around and lifting DS and the carseat just fine. I didnt have any negative side effects from doing so. I didnt exactly walk around and hold the carseat through a store, but Id put it in the shopping cart or in the stroller and run my errands.
My OB told me to just take it slow when getting back to lifting anything over 10 lbs. Obviously if it's an emergency those rules are going to fly out the window. Her only instructions were no heavy lifting for the first 2 weeks, only when necessary for the following 2, then as I was comfortable with thereafter.
I was told not to lift over 10 lbs (or anything over baby's weight) for the first 2 weeks.
I pretty much disregarded that anyway since car seat plus baby was at least 16 lbs. I just made sure not to carry her far in the seat. So if I went to a store, I'd park next to the cart return, grab the cart, and then lift the carrier into it.
When I was feeling up to it, I started lifting DD1 again, and she's 41-42 lbs.

I think I waited about 3 weeks to lift the car seat and stroller in/out of the car. I was by myself, and had no choice.
But I'm bad at following orders. I went back to work training horses 3 weeks after my first c-section.
I was told 'Nothing heavier than the baby' although my OB laughed about it, given how huge she was when she was born.
Honestly, after about 2 weeks I was lifting things and doing laundry. I did go to the grocery store by myself and lifted a bit too much at 2-3 weeks and felt it, but I'm pretty fine now.
Of course, I'm terrible about doctor's orders. My husband asked my OB if he should tie me to the couch when I was on modified bedrest because I have so much trouble sitting still!
I remember going shopping at 2 weeks and lifting DD in her car seat base. I was also lifting DS (37 lbs) at 6 weeks.
Just go slow. You'll know if it's too much weight.
