Organic milk after 1 year?

Hi Ladies,

 I've been trying to decide whether or not I want to use only organic milk for DS after his 1st birthday.

What are you planning on doing and why? Thanks!

    We are doing organic whole milk.   To me, it just seems like kind of a no-brainer.   

    But then again there are skeptics ...    

    You should do some research so that you feel comfortable with your decision.

    We will do regular whole milk.  I guess that makes me a skeptic.  whatever.

    Yes, we definitely are. We switched to organic milk once I got pregnant. The hormones and antibiotics in conventional dairy are of great concern to me, especially considering how much milk LO will drink.

    But I agree with PP -- do some research and decide for yourself. For example, I just read this in Time magazine over the weekend (hopefully this links to a page about organic milk):

    I've drank organic milk for years, so my daughter will also get organic milk. The hormones and antibiotics in non-organic concern me, but I also think it just tastes a whole lot better.

    If I'm at a store that doesn't offer organic milk than I'll just buy regular.  But, if there's a choice I don't see how hard it is to just move your arms towards the organic version.  I understand the reasoning behind why folks have qualms about how organic anything can really be better than regular or if it really matters.  I don't always buy organic fruit/veggies or other products.  But with milk, knowing that in organic they're not shooting up the cows with a bunch of crap makes me feel a bit better.

    DH and I have been drinking organic milk for a long time.  DD will drink the same thing.

    We are just using rbst free milk , which is what most milk is these days and the growth hormone people worry about . Iam weary of ultra pasterization of organic . It changes the proteins so they are harder to digest.

    we're doing organic whole milk but that's b/c my lo is a girl. if she was a boy instead, i don't think i'd be going the organic route.

    I don't see why having a girl vs a boy should make a difference. Why would their sex matter? Does that mean you'd love a boy less than a girl? I don't get itHuh?

    LO is going to be 11 months. So far he has been a EBF baby...But my milk is low..We are really not going to do the milk thing...We have vitamins and a well balanced diet...I didn't grow up on milk so it's no big deal for me...Giving him milk every once in a while I don't see being a problem. Pedi said as long as he eats cheese, broccoli, yogurt, cottage cheese...He should be fine.

     Still, why would you feed a girl organic and not a boy? It also says about the drug resistant bacteria, but I guess it doesn't matter if your son got sick and didn't respond to antibiotics. I think you feel the way you do because you have a girl. If you had a boy, you might think differently.

    We use organic milk for our four year old daughter and will use it for our son as well. We try to eat as cleanly as possible.
