I am hoping to get some positive thoughts from this I am now starting my 4th round of Clomid. I started at 50 mg, then 100 mg and now I'm on my 2nd round of 150mg. I just had an HSG procedure and all is normal (huge relief). So I'm just wondering, has anyone experienced that the Clomid doesn't make you ovulate? I haven't ovulated a singe time and I am getting frustrated. I know there are other meds for this, but my doctor doesn't seem to want to switch me yet. I know I need to trust her, but I just want to know why I am not ovulating on Clomid! Any advice or personal experiences would be so helpful! Thanks to all!
Re: clomid frustrations
First, ((big hugs)) this is the hardest thing to go through. I only tried Clomid once, and I responded but my issue was different so it didn't work for me, IVF was my only option. Are you being monitored with E2's and ultrasounds? If you are not seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist, you should get a referral. I know that some women do not respond to one drug or another, sometimes you need a combination of drugs to get it going. Regardless, you should be fully monitored when you are on any IF med's that way they can watch how you are responding and make sure you are not under or over stimmulated.
Also, if you are not already visiting it, you should try the Infertility board or TTTC. You are certain to run into someone that has or is experiencing what you are. I learned so much from going there and I couldn't have made it through two years of infertilty tests and treatment with out the support of those women. I hope you find answers soon!
Thanks for the encouragement! This is tough, but I know in the end it will all be worth it! My ob is not doing any monitoring. She said she is going to give Clomid one more month, and then I'll be referred to a doctor downstairs. (RE) She did do one vaginal ultrasound at the beginning just to make sure my ovaries were healthy and she said I have very small follicles. When you say E2's, what does that refer to. I get so lost in all the lingo talk on these boards
I will def go check out the TTC board!
Thanks again!
E2's are Estridiol levels in your blood, a common blood test they do when you are taking IF drugs, it tells the doctor how your ovaries are reacting to stimulation. When you take injectables and often with Clomid they will monitor you with an internal ultrasound and E2 tests.
If memory serves me correctly, when you are being stimmed, you get an increase of 200-400 per mature follicle. Here is a link

I found going to the RE so empowering. I walked away feeling like I had a real plan. I hope you find answers quickly. Send updates!
My DH and I tried to get pregnant for 7 years. This was partly my fault because I dragged my feet about getting anything done. Finally my DH gave me the phone number to The Fertility Center of San Antonio in the medical center.
It was the best thing I ever did. With in 2 visits they knew exactly what was wrong with me and the course of action to take. Also, they don't mess around. They sit down at your consultation and go over all the options and plan of attach. they tell you exactly how many times they will try something and the medicine etc. You also meet with the billing specialist to see how much each thing will cost you up front.
I was very fortunate and was pregnant the first time we tried IUI. I cannot say enough great things about this place. They are the most reccomended highly regarded practice in SA.
I agree with Deb above, you have a plan and and action from going to an RE.
