Davis Monthan AFB?
Ahoy Ladies!
My husband has received orders to Davis-Monthan in the new year.
Does anyone have any information on the base, or the Tuscan area? I've done tons of searches, and I have lots of "surface" information but I'd rather have the inside scoop!
It will be our first PCS with a baby too, and I'd like to try a DITY move.
Am I nuts?

I havent lived there but it was our number one on our dream sheet for our last PCS (we didnt get it). Ive heard its fantastic and I have several friends that either live in Tuscon or on base. If you have any specific ?'s let me know and Ill find out the answer for you.
As far as the DITY move, unless you have a TON of furniture, I dont think its horrible. IDK about dealing with the baby through all that since I dont have any children, but if it were me I would make sure I had someone to watch baby as we packed and as we unpacked. Other than that I dont see an issue. I LOVED my full DITY so much more than dealing with TMO or the movers. My stress level was WAY down and we made great money off our move also.
GL and the best advice would probably be: if you feel too overwhelmed then just go with a partial DITY.
Not gonna lie, the money is a BIG motivator behind the DITY move. We don't have too much in the way of stuff, so I think I'm going to do it. I just found out that we are entitled to free childcare for a certain number of hours on each end of a PCS, so I'll take advantage of that!
I'm hearing good things about the base too, so I'm getting excited. At any rate, I will love the heat!
I imagine the dog will be less than excited...
DH is stationed at DM right now. We live off base and have been here 4 years as of last month. If you have any specific questions, I'd be happy to answer them.

You might want to check into the money part... New regs came out and the money's not as good as it once was. Pretty much the days of raking in the money on a DITY are over. We're PCSing to Grand Forks this month and chose to go through TMO (from Eielson). My experience was a good one. I wouldn't do a DITY at all on this move! lol

I'll have to look into the DITY regs a little more closely. I'd heard they changed, but it didn't occur to me that it might affect my plans to become miss moneybags. That might throw a wrench in my plans...blargh.
