I am getting induced at 6 am tomorrow morning. Is putting makeup on a waste? I will use foundation for sure, but what about the rest? Did you wear mascara and have it become a mess? What about everything else?
I planned on wearing makeup (I was a scheduled c-section) but I went into labor th night before...water broke during dinner and we rushed to the hospital for an emergency c-section. I wished I had...I look like death in my first family pic
I was induced and opted not to do makeup. I'm glad I didn't, because after 20 hours of labor and 3 of pushing, I needed to have a cool washcloth on my face and had tears streaming down my cheeks when he arrived.
I was a complete mess and didn't really have pictures of me until after I showered.
I had a surprise induction after an appointment, so I was all made up. If I would have a scheduled induction, I think I would still be totally made up. I didn't wear lipstick though because chapstick was more important!!

With my first I had no time for make-up since my water broke at 3am. I looked like hell and like I hadn't slept for a month. lol. With my second I was induced, so I put on a little make up and threw my hair in a ponytail. The pictures were a heck of a lot better this time and I actually looked good for just giving birth.
I went into labour spontaneously and still took the time to take a shower and do my makeup that morning (didn't wash my hair)
I don't feel like myself without makeup on and never leave the house with at least the basics on so this was no exception! I wore 'fluid line' eyeliner by MAC (same as I used on my wedding day - waterproof) and I also use waterproof Lash Blast Covergirl mascara, I can't say I looked good after labour but at least I felt good going in!!
I always wear makeup, so I knew I would try to for labor. I was also induced at 6am. I put on makeup and fixed my hair (lots of hairspray!). My labor was 12 hours exactly. The first 6 hours were a piece of cake. The last 6 hours were intense - lots of pain and bawling my eyes out due to the pain. DH did brush my hair for me once or twice throughout the day (lol), but other than that, mine all held up pretty well, imo. I should note that I wore waterproof mascara and eyeliner, because I knew I would cry!
I was induced, too but I started the night before. When they took the cervadil out they let me get up and get washed up. I put foundation/bronzer/blush on and waterproof mascara. That was at 7 am. By the end of my c/s at 6 pm I was still a hot mess from hours of crying. (whooole other story.) But I always wear make up and would have felt less like myself in front of visitors if I didn't wear any all day.
My first thought was, "Are you kidding?" But then I read everyone else's responses and now realize there must be some huge variability in this appearance during labor/delivery thing:) Maybe I'm the outlier. The last thing on my mind was make-up or how I looked during that process...I don't even think I wore makeup during the last trimester of my pregnancy. If you're worried about it now, my guess is that you won't be worried about it once you are in the midst of the process and are holding your healthy and happy baby:)
I put on foundation, mascara, and I think some really neutral eye makeup and fixed my hair. Then, my induction took forever and I ended up having her the next day...I had slept in my makeup and while in labor I got really hot so my husband "helped" me put it up. You couldn't tell I had tried to look decent! Good luck though, and just do what will make you feel the best, it is important to be as comfortable as possible!

My water broke without contractions (so it was a surprise) with DS#1. I went home, showered, dried my hair, & fixed my makeup. I'm very glad I did. Then before they wheeled me back for the c-section (I had 3 hours of pushing after 18 hrs of labor with no results), I refreshed my makeup again. I'm really glad I did, so I didn't look like a train wreck in the pictures. Call it vain, but it matters to me.
With csection #2, I went in with makeup on & it was no problem.
My labor hit hard and fast at 3am. I thought about taking a shower, but I could barely walk, the contractions were so quick and painful. I ended up in labor for 20 hours, followed by an emergency c/s, and I was so doped up, make up never crossed my mind until the next day around mid afternoon. If I had started a little more slowly or if it was planned, I would have done at least a little waterproof make up. GL tomorrow!

DS born via emergency c/s after 20 hrs of labor. DD successful VBAC!
I had a surprise induction after an NST so I already had makeup on - however if I had to do it again, I wouldn't even think about makeup. After 36 hrs of labor, I was sweaty, crying, and what little makeup was left on my face did NOT look good - trust me!

I had my 39 week appointment and had got up and washed, blowdryed and straightened my hair. Full makeup. And when the Dr told me to head into L&D I went just like that. I'm I'm sooo glad I did. My pics of Aiden's delivery aren't scary and people acutally have commented on how nice my hair looks even after delivering a 9 pound baby. lol And I wouldn't have it any other way.
I started having contrax and when my doctor told me to come in, I showered, did my hair and my makeup. I had a quick labor with my 2nd and felt much better having makeup on, for whatever reason. I never even broke a sweat!
I'd skip it, and do all that after the baby is born. I actually went into labor on my own, but before we left for the hospital I took a shower, put my hair up, and did my make-up. It was pretty pointless... because by the time she was born, I looked a hot mess. And my labor was easy.
I was induced & decided to fix my hair/make-up. DH knew what to get out of my make-up bag & fix me if I started looking like a hot mess! Luckily, it never got to that point! It was only 4 hours after the Pitocin was started that DD was born. Good luck!
I was induced at 6 am and did my hair and makeup. It was totally worth it, everyone commented how it didn't even look like i had just had a baby. It made me feel good to hear that but also I felt better because I didn't look so awful.
