Comcast Vs. ATT Uverse

We currently have comcast (tv, phone and internet bundle) but are thinking about switching to ATT uverse (with a 12mt agreement). I wanted to get feedback on those who had comcast but are now with ATT Uverse. Do you like it better than comcast? What do you think about their customer service? If you signed up with them during a promotional offer, what happened after the promotional offer ended? Were you able to get it again if you signed up for another contract?

Thanks.

Re: Comcast Vs. ATT Uverse

  • Uverse is 1000000000000000000% better than Comcast....  I switched the second we could...  We didn't have to sign an agreement, but I always call when a "new deal" comes out and they honor it...  We had Uverse at our old house..  You shouldn't have to sign a contrac to get the best deal..

  • We were customers of Comcast for 3 years before we switched over to Uverse. Our bill kept getting higher and higher. (We had the most basic cable, no movie channels and just the internet). I was very frustrated with Comcast because of the constant lag and delay in their service. (Internet would go out for days or the box would simply not work) Although customer service was nice but we had too many problems. When we moved into our new home, Comcast service was just as worse when we were living at our old apartment. We had a friend who worked at AT&T and he gave us a hook up with the promotional deals. I forget what they were at that time but our bill has been cheaper (and still remains the same every month), our internet NEVER goes out and the same with our TV. The quality is great, no lag, great customer service (on the phone and on the internet) and the best feature is we ONLY have to use one DVR instead of using (and paying) 2!

  • I found our internet to be slower with uverse, but I fixed things a bit by changing a channel somewhere.

The music channels on Uverse suck @ss, but there are rumors that MTV is eliminating their Urge channels entirely. When that will happen and what--if anything --they'll be replaced with is still unknown.

We also have the sports package, but I discovered that it is unlikely that I will see any of the Auburn (or SEC) games on there because they'll be blacked out due to agreements with ESPN. I can watch them on espn3.com though. rrr's arizona games will be on there though, and his games are almost never on national TV so it's good for him.

  • I was ok with comcast, but tried to switch to uverse when we moved because it would be cheaper.

I had a mailer they sent to my house. In it, it said that I could bundle my cell phone service instead of a home phone, and it was an amazingly good deal. It took a couple different service reps before I got one who could figure out how to do this. I was reading to them from their own marketing materials.

So the technician came out... a couple hours later he has spent a lot of time in my backyard and a lot of time sitting in his truck waiting for his supervisor to call him back. Leaves for lunch without telling me. Comes back an hour later. Messes with stuff again. Says an engineer will have to come out and climb the pole. They'll call me when that part is done in a day or two.

Three days later, no word. I call. Service rep has no clue what I'm talking about. Finally get to talk to engineering (instead of call center sounds in the background, it sounded like some guy in his garage, shuffling papers around). He finally finds the engineer's report. I'm "36ft too far from the loop" so I can't get uverse even though my neighbors have it.

Then the fun really began as I had to cancel the service that they weren't able to provide. And call a whole other set of yahoos for getting my wireless out of the deal, but I can't get my old plan back even though they could not provide the service they promised.

So their customer service, IMO, blows. And this is coming from someone who spent 45min on the phone with comcast last week.
