Britax? Help me out here ladies!

What websites were helpful in helping you determine which convertible carseat to purchase? Those of you with Britax seats, how did u choose the one you have? There are so many models of Britax and I am stumped on which one to choose. Price is an issue but I would never compromise DD's safety to save a few bucks. Is it safe to say that all Britax are pretty much guaranteed to to be the best? Some seats are around 200 bucks and others are over 500 bucks. Advice?

Re: Britax? Help me out here ladies!

  • I used Britax USA's website.  I bought the Advocate which is the top of the line one.  For me, I knew that I had a big baby (96th percentile for weight, 86th for height) and wanted one that would last a long time, which would put me around a Marathon.  From there I decided that I liked the head wings in the event of a crash DS's head wouldn't rebound as much and the wings would soften the blow a bit...which put me at the Boulevard.  Then I decided that DS would be in the side position as opposed to in the middle and I liked that the Advocate had those side air bag thingy's.  It was very expensive but I got a BRU credit card (I NEVER do this) so got a 10% off that day and used a 20% off, so got 30% off total.  I don't regret it but I agree it is overwhelming and potentially expensive!  Good luck.

  • I looked up on our car manufacturer's website the list of car seats that were approved to fit properly, then cross referenced it with Baby Bargain's rating system. Then I went with price after that.

I ended up with the Britax Marathon.

  • I just did a lot of Googling and narrowed it down.  We ended up with the Advocate.
  • I knew I wanted Britax from everything that I read and we chose one that was an acceptable price with a good weight limit.  We have the Roundabout 50 and DS will definitely be out of the seat well before he outgrows the weight limit.  We love the seat and would recommend Britax to anyone.

  • I looked on consumer reports and I spoke with a friend who recently bought one. We just bought the Roundabout 55. So far I love it and DD seems to like it too. Paid $200 w/ a 20% off coupon at Buy Buy Baby. With the safety features it provides plus with the features my car provides I feel good about our choice.

  • Just wanted to chime in here and tell you that I just found a Britax Roundabout 50 at Target for $100 today.  I thought it was a pretty sweet deal!
