We never did for a tricycle....I think that's a bit extreme, but to each their own. K was always strictly monitored on her trike....it's not like we allowed her to get more than arm's reach from us at that point. (she usually needed help steering/pedaling) and she was often inside w/it, as well.
Bike is a totally different story. She always wears her helmet and has never resisted....she's knows it's part of the routine!
We've never done knee or elbow pads.

O wore a helmet on his tricycle. Not so much because I thought he'd fall and hit his head but to get him used to wearing a helmet. I figured if he had to wear one from day one then he wouldn't fight me when I made him wear one later.

Yes, we wanted to introduce the concept of bike + helmet early. They also wear them in the trailer.... We don't do any additional protective gear... Mabye for a skate board.. Luca already wants one

Us, too. And now that T knows and likes to wear his helmet, we let him skip out on it sometimes. No other protection.
We do not make the kids wear them in the trailer, although we have been told we should.
We bought Marion her first bike helmet today and plan on making her wear it. But she never sees Josh on his bike without his, so she knows it's just part of riding a bike.
I was just wondering about pads because we're getting her the Skuut for her b-day and I think there's more room for tumbles than with a trike. I'll chalk up any bumps and bruises to the learning process
Yes, she always wore one with her Tricycle, when she was in the buggy, and always on her bike. DH bikes a lot so he's a stickler about it (not that we wouldn't be anyway).
She has knee pads, elbow pads and wrist guards - but only for her roller skates. With her helmet of course.

Ditto! If he is outside and on his trike, he is always wearing his helmet....just good practice, I spose.
