We're thinking it's less expensive than institutional centers? (We've priced those). We're not looking to enroll DD yet, so we don't want to start calling places, but we want to work out a budget.
TIA!

I agree that it varies based on location and the specifics of the situation. We pay $8 an hour for in home in Portland. I have friends who pay anywhere from $6 to $10 per hour (also in Portland). I'm sure that you could find cheaper depending on what you are looking for.
I pay $25/day. My DCP is state certified, so is her husband (who sometimes works from home) and her MIL and SIL provide backup care, they are also both licensed. Every day it's my DD, and a 3 year old boy, and her 3 1/2 year old daughter (who is now in part time pre school). She supplies all food and baby wipes, we only supply diapers (and our own formula until 12 months old).
I absolutely LOVE my DCP. I found her on craigslist.
It depends. Mine is state certified too and we pay $750 a month for 5 days a week. But she looks after a lot of kids (12-14) with 2-3 supervisors. Food is included but we supply diapers and wipes.
Thanks, ladies. This was helpful - although, only in that you convinced me that we are actually going to have to get off our butts and actually call Either way, it still sounds less expensive than the centers we were looking at.

We will pay $20 per day for an in home (someone I know personally) in Forest Grove and I know that is VERY low compared to when we started looking. We will supply our own milk/food, diapers and wipes. We are very lucky!!!
Re: $ for in-home daycare
It really varies.
Which area you are in makes a big difference.
I called for months and found anywhere from $500 - $1000 a month.
