I am so excited to find out that my husband and I have finally conceived our second child! My first labor and delivery didn't go according to plan and I ended up having a C-section. I had always planned on having 3-4 children and having a c-section may not make that possible. I want to explore my options for VBAC. What hospitals have a vbac option? Are there any doctors/midwives who are "pro" VBAC? I was wondering what experiences other women have had in the twin cities area. Please share I look forward to reading your stories!
Re: VBAC- Who and Where
Generations Women's Health midwives are pro-vbac. I highly recommend them! They would have you deliver at St. John's or St. Joes- not sure which hospital they do the vbacs at. Also, I know the Hudson, WI hospital will do vbacs. A friend delivered there after having 2 c-sections. I'm not sure who her ob care provider was. She drove there from Blaine. Congrats and good luck!

I don't know for sure, but I'd guess that Health Foundations in St. Paul would be open to VBACs - take a look: https://www.health-foundations.com/about-us
While I am not having a VBAC, I just transferred my care to Hudson and am seeing Dr. Hartung. I am 35 weeks along and very impressed by their letting the woman go for what she feels her body is able, rather than just doing something because everyone else is or statistics. I did a meet and greet and then had them transfer my care. I decided to pursue a water birth after my OB/GYN wouldn't and discovered she also was more into the medical model than the woman knowing her own body. We found a great Doula at Childbirth Collective and I feel really good that I'm taking as much of my birth into control as I am going to be able.
Good Luck!!
Dr. Van Dis is an OB at University Specialists in Women's Health at the U of M Medical Center affiliated with Fairview Riverside. She did my c-section when my daughter was breech and told me shortly after delivery that I would be a VBAC candidate for future pregnancies.
I see a midwife now through Fairview who has told me that it is my choice either way up until the very end if I want a VBAC or c-section.
They seem to be very willing to work with me.
Dr. Jennifer Flynn with Metro ob. She is very pro vbac, one of the first things she said to me while stiching me up is that I would be a candidate for a vbac next time. She knew how much I wanted vaginal birth. I delivered at Untited. She is an all around great dr!
I was already looking into VBAC options even while TTC this baby! But I go to Western OB/GYN in Waconia and Chaska and they are very VBAC supportive. You deliver at Ridgeview in Waconia, which is awesome!!
But I have now decided after speaking with many women that did VBAC, repeat c-section, and had failed VBAC's just to do the repeat c section again.
