Recommend your diaper bag please!

Oh wise bumpies, I am on my second diaper bag in 4 months...and am still not happy with it. I was originally hoping to find a purse like diaper bag or a purse that I could use as a diaper bag and never did. I broke down and bought a cheap diaper bag just before the baby was born and it worked for about a month (which I didn't mind). I then still couldn't find anything I was super excited about and bought this JJ cole bag. There are a few things i like about it, but its really bulky and feels like a black hole because its so deep, and not a HUGE fan of the messenger bag style (want something that looks more like a purse).

I am not a fan of PPB bag style (except the cake bags, but can't justify the $$$) or most backpack styles. I really want something with plenty of pockets and room for a full day out and about (room for extra change of clothes and a few extra diapers) that doesn't scream diaper bag, and looks more purse-ish.

Is there such a bag?

  • We have the Go Gaga slide and I LOVE it. (Babysteals had it one morning and I got lucky.)

  • DH bought me an OiOi diaper bag and I love it!  It's a tote style, although I am also crazy about their hobo bag styles.  It does not look like a diaper bag at all IMO, it looks like a big ol' purse. I probably would not have bought it on my own since they are a bit pricey, though...

Awesome, Thanks! I am willing to spend up to somewhere in the $200 range (figure if its good quality, I can always use it as a large purse after I stop using it as a diaper bag)

  • Could you get the diaper caddy thing and put it in a purse? I'm totally blocking on the company that makes it but it's like $30 and includes a changing pad, clear wipes container, and space for diapers and a zipper pocket for diaper cream etc. I think you can also carry it alone as a large clutch.

I have a black kate spade tote that I got a rockin deal on - it looks a lot like my old work totes but is technically a diaper bag and came with a changing pad (that I have never used). The only downer is that it doesn't zip/close up, but since it sits up so well on it's own that isn't a huge issue (it doesn't tip over).

If im not able to find a diaper bag, I have also been looking for an actual purse to use as a diaper bag...I just haven't found a purse with enough inside pockets for all the baby stuff (so it doesn't end up in what I love to refer to as my black hole of a diaper bag)

  • I have the Skip Hop Studio bag in Pewter Dot and so far I love it. lots of pockets and compartments, straps to attach to a stroller and IMO it looks like a large purse.
  • Have you checked out StorkSak? I can't seem to put a PIP, but if you google search images, you can get a sense for their style. They cost about $200. I have the Gigi and might pick up a second diaper bag in a different color or style before LO arrives!

We have this one in black and I really like it.

  • Like you, I was on a hunt for something that didn't scream "diaper bag!" and ended up buying a Mia Bossi bag, but I couldn't find a local place that carried the one I wanted, so I bought it online, but it was way too big and bulky, so I sold it. After much searching, I decided to go with the Burberry bag.  I justified the price to myself by saying that it was going to be my purse for the next several years, so I should have something I love!

ETA: I also bought this bag (w/ mustard trim) to tote my pump and all my purse "stuff" to work, and I end up using it when I need a bigger bag.

  • This is the thing I couldn't remember the name of yesterday - Skip Hop Pronto. That's the thing that I know people who put it in another bag. Essentially it takes the place of a million pockets since the diaper items go in it.
