First of all, I can't believe you're 17 weeks pregnant... it's going so fast (for me!)
Ok, I went with a ridiculous diaper bag at first - it's the LV Totally and I deeply lusted it even though there's like no pockets inside (well, two, but whatever). I realize now that it was just a love affair and completely impractical.
So, last week, I bought a new one - I got THIS and I absolutely love it. It's very comforable to wear as a messenger and has three inside pockets plus an outside pocket. It's super soft too. I retired my Louis to wear only as luggage... and looking back it was bulky and uncomfortable.
ETA: I realize the link only takes you to the coach poppy collection. The one I got is the fourth from the left (crazy colors + gold Poppy) in the first big row. It's a crazy bag, but something in it spoke to me... not to be all zen about bags, or anything, haha.
I say go with something you really love and has a lot of compartments because you'll be wearing it every day. Also, make sure it's comfortable on your shoulder.
I have the Fleurville re-run messenger. It is a blue and green pattern. I think I spent about $75. I like it a lot, sometimes I wish it was just a touch bigger but I think in the long run I will be happy it's not. It has 3 main compartments inside and 3 outside pockets, enough for me to know where everything is. It is also made out of recycled water bottles which is a bonus. Fleurville also makes the mothership which is pretty popular I think, it is a little bigger.
I had one custom made on Etsy. I love everything about it- still. I only paid $80 & it will be something I can use forever bc it doesn't have baby designs or even look like a dipe bag :-)

I just used a backpack. Eddie Bauer from WalMart, cost about $30. You can fit a crapton in there and it works just as well as a regular diaper bag. I loved that I could wear it light a backpack because when you're trying to haul a 2 year old in a strolled up and down 6 flights of subway stairs a day... well... being able to wear it that way is handy.
I have a Petunia Pickle Bottom bag. I love it! It has a ton of compartments and its just really pretty. I wanted one that would be practical and also look good since it is my purse too. With Rowen I had a Vera Bradley bag and I loved it too. Look for something with lots of different compartments inside of it so things are easy to find. I also love having outside pockets for my keys and phone.
I wound up getting a Juicy Couture diaper bag, which is great, but if I had to do it all over again I probably would not get it....For the money DH spent on it, it is not wearing well at all.
I just recently bought one from an etsy seller and love it!!!! And it was only around 30.00
Skip Hop Dash Deluxe, this color matches our travel system. I figured since they would be used together, they should look like they belong together.
Love it, holds everything (and I pack a lot in there!), and not to bulky. Biggest selling point for me was the stroller clips that easily clip around the handles of the coach.
I got mine from Etsy. It took me forever to find one that I liked that didn't cost a million dollars. I like this one a lot, it is very big has plently of compartments and cleans easily if you spill anything on it! Plus I am a sucker for anything monogrammed! Mel also ordered a bag from this seller.
