I am not pregnant with twins that I know of (I will find out tomorrow when I go in for the ultrasound What I have cooking in there). However, My BETA was 407 and a day later 1100 (this was last week) and conception date was August 7th. Just curious...
Re: Pregnant with twins? What was your BETA stat around 4 or 5 weeks??
Beta number cannot tell you if you are carrying multiples.
The number is only useful to confirm pregnancy, and the rate of increase to verify that the pregnancy is progressing as it should.
"Can" being very much the operative word.
There are plenty of women here who had higher betas with their singleton pregnancies than their multiples.
I'm a little surprised your doctor would float that possiblity only off beta numbers. Only an u/s can tell you anything for sure.
Progesterone level is actually a better predictor of twins than betas. My numbers were quadrupling with my son and, he was just one. Looks like you have a nice sticky one in there, so congrats

He did not suggest that I might be carrying multiples. I am a very curious person and I asked him what high scores could mean, because he told me mine were high for that early in the pregnancy. That was his response to me.
I am just curious as to those who did have twins/preg with twins what their numbers were. nothing wrong with a little curiosity.
I didn't say there was. Just answering the implied question in the post.
Check out www.betabase.info and you can see the range for single vs twin pg. There is a huge range
My doc told me my betas were really high with my son too. At 7DPO it was 79 and 9DPO is was 200+. By 4 weeks I was well over 2500.

Wow, that is high! Thanks for the website.
HOLY crap!! Yeah, I am not high compared to you, at all! LOL
each person body, age, progesterone levels, how you got pregnant (ivf iui or natural) are more of a factor then the betas. the betas are just showing that the bab(ies) you are carring are healthy and growing as they should.
do not pay too much mind in the charts etc. you can see from my betas last time when I was pregnant with my twin boys my numbers were not super uber big but I was blessed with twins....
I was 244 14 DPO, and I am having twins, which was lower than some. Wait for an ultrasound to tell you one way or another. Also, until then, you really won't know how far along you really are, which could mean the difference either higher or lower.
Hi there. Like PP said, betas cannot tell you if you are having a singleton or multiples. But it is fun to obsess a little.
For me, my betas were:
11dp5dt (16dpo) 600
13dp5dt (18dpo) 1141
15dp5dt (20dpo) 2920
I wasn't surprised to find out that I am having twins. However, I have known girls to have the same or higher levels and have a singleton.
This can be random too. My progesterone at 19dpo was 127.
U/S is the only sure fire way to tell
Good luck!
I was always told beta numbers don't determine a HOM pregnancy. My beta numbers weren't super high and I'm having twins.
GL at your u/s.
My 12 dpo beta ( in 2009) was 308 and I was pregnant with triplets.
People are correct, beta's will not tell you if you are having multiples.
Good luck and happy pregnancy.
