Fraud on my Bank Account (NTTCALR)

Yikes! I just got a message from my bank saying there was fraudulent (sp) behavior and to call them. Sure enough, someone had used my card number as a debit card in California. I live in Denver, CO! So scary to think that someone took $200.00 out at Target with my card and pin number. My card is now invalid, and I have to wait for a new one in the mail since I can't get a replacement. (They only issue them at the branch where you opened the account. We lived in NYC at the time.) I guess DH will have to fork over money to me, or be with me every where I go!

    Oh, no!  I'm just glad the bank called you after that charge, instead of waiting a few days to see how much damage could have been done!  Do they "forgive" that charge?

    That SUCKS.  I recently had my paypal hacked and they stole my credit card and checking account info.  I had money stolen out of both.  Luckily they got it back. It's been almost a month and I'm still waiting on a new credit card. called this week and they sent it to an old address even though I've changed it with them 3 times. 

    ugh. sorry about my rant.

    Ugh- hopefully they'll erase the charge.  I don't know how that works with debit cards, but I know they will with CCs.

    Bank of America caught mine.  Someone out of the country tried using the card but it was declined b/c they detected odd charges.  It was a debit card.  It sucks waiting for a new one bc I had no access to cash.

    That sucks big time!  Someone stole my credit card info earlier this year and spent over $1000.00 before Capital One stopped them!  Thank goodness they did not hold me responsible for those charges.  Will your bank reimburse you for those?

    That has happened to me as well. They took over thirty small transactions on paypal within hours totaling more than $2000.00. It took me months to dispute them because I had to file each one individually!

    I hope you get your card and money back soon.

    Oh no!! That is horrible. I know so many people who have had their debit card copied and used or had to deal with credit card fraud. I'm glad the bank caught it quickly!

    Are they going to reimburse the $$ that was taken?

    Wowsa! So many of you in the same boat! In regards to reimbursement, the complaint in filed and the department will get back to me within a few days. They in turn ask the company who issued the $$$, Target in this case, for a reimbursement, which should take 2-3 days. For once I'm not too upset. I'm thinking there are worse things in life that can happen Tongue Tied

    that happened to me when we were vacationing in europe this summer- luckily we had access to other monetary funds as we would have been screwed if not- for me it was my itunes account- charged over $200 of music- and the sad part is that its mostly just music i would have like to listen to- my bank recognized it as fraudulent because it was such a high amount rather than my $1.29 here and there. its a total pain in the a$$ and i felt sooooo violated-

    That sucks! I?m so sorry, but I?m glad your bank was on top of it and handled the situation before it got out of control. Good luck with getting a new one!

    Where do you bank?  I work for a bank and you can get a temporary card issued at any branch while you wait for your new debit card to arrive.
