Trouble TTC

Anyone tried Vitex?

I was reading about natural ways to help you ovulate, since I was dx with PCOS, and I read that Vitex, or ChasteBerry helps with this. Has anyone tried it? What about this in addition to Clomid?

Re: Anyone tried Vitex?

  • I've read that you cannot mix Vitex and Clomid since they can counteract.  I personally have not tried Vitex...

  • I tried chaste tree, but only 2 months after starting it, I came into the research study and can't use it right now.

    I didn't ovulate during those 2 months.

You CANNOT mix vitex/chasteberry/chaste tree with Clomid.

  • Vitex/chasteberry (or chaste tree berry) are the same thing.  They act like "natures clomid", which is why you shouldn't take them together - it's like double dosing.  It's best to take under the direction of a naturopath.  Often, Vitex will be taken in conjunction with other things, such as a Vitamin B complex, etc.  It's also something that works best if taken for a while - don't take it for a month and expect it to work.  Try consistency for 3-6 months.  However, I must repeat that its best to take under supervision... even herbs can have negative effects.  GL to you!!!
